Which golf courses to play while at Cape Cod?

We are heading to Cape Cod next week for our first visit and have been looking for info on which golf courses to play while we are there - which ones are your favorite? My husband is a very good golfer and I am not too bad

Resorts: Lakeview Resort (Morgantown,WV) and Harbor Ridge (Southwest Harbor, ME)
In order---here's what I think
New Seabury (Blue) nice/semi-private
Captain's Course (2-18's)
Cranberry Valley
Ballymeade semi-private
Bayberry Hills
Dennis Highlands

that will get you started---where are you staying?

Where you are staying will have alot to do with it...but I'd also recommend the Ocean Edge Golf Course http://www.oceanedge.com/golf/Course_Overview.aspx ....if you're staying there. The back 9 renovations are completed but only available to guests and members.

We are staying at Riverview Resort Condominiums in South Yarmouth . . . we don't mind driving to a good golf course . . . and are planning to drive to see a lot of the Cape. Since this is our first visit, we want to see as much as possible, but always include golf! Will be back in the off season soon to play more golf . . .

cape golf

New Seabury has lots of ocean view holes on the front nine.. I found it hard to play golf because the scenery was so beautiful. Also liked OCean Edge which is pretty... there is a cute 9 hole in Chatham but I cant remember the name of it... have fun !

Chatham Seaside Links. It's near the Chatham Bars Inn.

How expensive are these courses? We are also going to the Cape next week, but thought we'd better leave the clubs home as I have heard the costs are outrageous.

yes it can get pricey !

Hi, have not been in a few years so I dont know the current rates but I can tell you it was expensive then....$50 plus at some of the mentioned courses... so be prepared. Maybe there is a cape cod site that has golf prices ??? Ocean Edge and New Seabury were high !!

From my original posting----I have made a 'guess' at what prime time rates are at various Cape courses. ( see my edit above that includes a guess at a greens fee).

I feel they really hit the tourists hard---but I suppose that is the theory behind supply vs. demand.

Oh, and though Ocean Edge is nice---I don't regard it as one of my favorites---particularly as a money value course----I would suspect it to be about $95.

Resorts: Grande Vista & Star Island (Orlando)/ Sea Mist & Southcape (Cape Cod)
For golfers traveling to the Cape, don't overlook "Olde Barnstable Fairgrounds." Public, inexpensive, and one of the really fine courses on the Cape (and there aren't many).

I did some more research on the internet and found that morning golf is the most expensive. Mid-afternoon appears to be about noon to 2:30 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. and twilight golf is after that.

Here are the rates I found:

Ballymeade Country Club - $68 a.m., $52 p.m. and $30 after 3:00 p.m.

Brookside Club - Mon - Thurs $60, Tues/Wed $58 and after 3:00 p.m. $45

Captains Golf Course $64, $45 after 2:30 p.m.

Cranberry Valley Golf Course $40 after 2:30 p.m.

Dennis Highland Golf $51 after 2:00 p.m.

Dennis Pines Golf Course: $51 after 2:00 p.m. and Hyannis Golf Club - $55

Most of the above places added $16/cart per person to that amount . . .so it is not like Fairfield Glade golf - that is for sure! But, I think we will play a course or two . .

Thanks for the info . . .

Given those rates---I'd call to see if the 3:00 tee time was availabe at Ballymeade.

My second choice would be Captain's (either of the two 18's), followed by Cranberry Valley.

I personally choose not to play Dennis Pines (TOO many PINES), or Hyannis (not a very well conditioned course).

The only one you mentioned that I have NOT played is Brookside.)
