Well, it's been two years since we've been to Branson so it's time to go back once again. Can anyone tell us what's so good about this Shoji show? It seems that people like it, but we have no idea who he is.
Secondly, we didn't find too many really good restaurants in the area so we ended up at Landry's Seafood a few days in a row. We're not into buffets and all you can eat....and since there is only the two of us, we prefer to stay away from places that entertain lots of kids...thanks for the suggestions.

Shoji is a Japanese violin player, who is so talented that sometimes I can close my eyes and feel like his violin is singing to me.

Also, it is a "high class" show. They charge a lot but put a lot of money into the show. He has an orchestra backup most of whom have a degree in music. (No recorded music here).

Great costumes, great backup dancers, singers and musicians. Well worth seeing the show.

A restaurant I would highly recommend is the Dobyn's Dining Room at the School of the Ozarks. You go South on Hwy 65 out of Branson and take the Hollister exit. Turn right then go straight thru the next stoplight to enter the College. On your right you will see some "lodge type" buildings where the restaurant is located.

Oftentimes you might find a certificate for Dobyn's on www.restaurant.com

There aren't too many "fine" restaurants in Branson; but there are a bunch of new ones at Branson Landing. I've also heard good things about the Candlestick Inn East of the Landing across Lake Taneycomo.

We enjoyed Shorty Smalls earlier this week in Branson. You can sometimes catch a dining certificate on restaurant.com if your are looking on the first of the month.

Shoji Rates A Big Thumbs Up.

We greatly enjoyed Shoji's show & his super-fancy theater during our Branson vacation last fall. Click here for details -- possibly more than you may care to know.

It is a good show, but the violin is electrified, if that makes any difference to any sound purists out there.

We have exchanged into Branson for the first time, checking in on July 21 for a week. This show (Shoji) is the one I have most looked forward to. Wouldn't you know it; he won't be playing at all that week! :bawl:

I am chuckling at some of the responses. :)

Shoji was one of those Suzuki method Japanese violin prodigies, if you remember back that far. He came here and made a business out of it.

Early on he used to team up with M M MMel T T T Tillis on some outdoor shows on TV, fishing, with hilarious ad libbing. C c c c c areful th th th th there, sh sh sh sh oji, do do do do n't eat th th th the b b b ait. :D

They were hilarious.

As others have said, Shoji is just one of those things you have to stick a pin in, like going to the Galleon was for us, to say you have done it. Unlike other shows, we do not feel compelled to keep going back for a Shoji fix.

As always, we and the Margaritaville Dock are open to all guests.

We attended some timeshare presentation at Roark when we stayed there and saw the show at a huge discount. It was worth every penny we paid. :p

We did enjoy the show very much. Rick and I were amazed at all the talent. The bathrooms are the thing I remember most about the theater. They are truly the nicest I have ever seen, anywhere! The lady who ran the bingo game (we won two-for-one tickets for two shows at the bingo game) at Roark made a huge deal about the bathrooms, so of course we had try them out.

My parents took pictures of the restrooms at his theatre the first time they went to his show.......

Thank you so much for the replies. We will definitely go see the show since all of you have recommended it so highly and Tuggers are very discriminating!
And thanks for the restaurant tips. We've heard of Branson Landing, but we thought it was a housing complex, so we will try to find it and check out the restaurants there. Is Dixie Stampede worth going to?????? Some friends just returned and didn't care for it and said the food was greasy. We have Midevil Nights by us, so eating with our fingers is something we've done before.

Seen 1 Dixie Stampede, Seen'm All ?

Is Dixie Stampede worth going to?
Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede dinner show was OK when we saw it down in Orlando FL. But (for us) once was enough & it's hard to imagine the Branson MO version as being much different from the Orlando show.

Take Hwy 76 East all the way and you'll run right into Branson Landing. You can search for their website and get all the info. Really nice outdoor shopping center. Much more "upscale" than the rest of Branson.
