Need NC Mountain Resort Recommendation

I know, to those who know this is a strange request coming from me, but I would like recommendations for good NC mountain resorts for September.

TIA.

Chetola and Blue ridge village in Banner Elk/Boone/Blowing Rock area.

Fairfield in Cashiers.

You will be happy with any of those.

I have never stayed in Lake Lure but read good reviews on it.

I see no availability at all for Foxrun for September.

You mean Foxrun Townhomes? I see them.

I don't see any Chetolas. Any other suggestions?

We like Blue Ridge Village when it is hot. If you want a cooler area, go for it rather than Foxrun. Check Spartanburg, SC's weather. Lake Lure will be similiar. Blue Ridge Village is at the foot of Grandfather Mountain and about 7-10 degrees cooler. Chetola is nicer, but we do enjoy BRV, too.

Foxrun is in a beautiful area. The resort is more secluded and private. Two golf courses located at Foxrun if you play golf. We will be there in September, too.

Ahhh... you are searching RCI. My Foxrun weeks are with II and the soonest availability is 11/30.

Blue Ridge Valley Resort,NC

Good morning,

I saw this thread and ventured to ask these questions... I purchased a resale for the week of July 4th at the Blue Ridge,NC last week and was interested in any information that could be provided. Unlike the other TS's I own, this one was bought with the purpose of actually going there every year. We are city dwellers and a TS in the mountain sounded wonderful. As I read the different reviews on the board this one actually seemed like one of the nicer ones in NC.

Also, should I need to trade it in the future, it is a 2 bd. Would it trade fairly well under the II exchange?

Tuggers, any information would be vastly appreciated.

Blessings,
Anna

I would call BRV and ask the building and type of unit. They have two style of 2 bedroom units. One is all on one floor and the other is a townhouse with two stories with a little loft area. I have a map of the area if you get the bldg # I can let your know where its located in reference to the lake. Also end units, a or d in a 4 unit building is preferable because of extra windows.

nc mountains

We just came back from a weekend at Blue Ridge Village. I like the resort. Good location, and they do have some activities on site if you care to participate.

Lake Lure (FF mountains) and FF Sapphire Valley are both nice get aways. None of the resorts are what I would call fancy, but well supplied, and clean.
Teresa

We have stayed at Smoketree Lodge when there wasn't anything else. It is a rather funky building, but the staff was very nice, the place was clean, and they have a terrific "great room"

4th of july here is the best. Read my review on the tug BRV so I don't have to list it all again here. I stayed at Blue Ridge Village for 4th of July week 2006 in a 2 bed room with the loft and it was huge. I believe it has 1400 square feet and would easily sleep 7 or 8. I liked it so much that I bought the week and unit I stayed in from the owner. I asked the resort if they had any weeks for sale and they said that the owner of the unit and week I was staying in had called the office and said he wanted to sell it. I gladly bought it for a very reasonable price.

I now own a week 27 Sunday check in so I won't have 4th of july again till 2009 or 2010. It works out to where I have 4th of July 3 years in a row and week 26 has it the next 3 years in a row. The fireworks show at the resort is first class and the 4th of July Bbque is wonderful. When I called home in 2006 the high temps were 98 and 99 miserable degrees every day in the deep south. The highs in Banner Elk every day ran between 78 and 85 degrees with the lows a couple of nights in the low to mid 50's. We actually needed a light jacket a couple of nights.

The scenery is as breathtaking as the Smokeys near Gatlinburg but without the crowds. We went where we wanted without traffic jams and no lines to get in a restaurant or tourist attractions. I hate to brag on the area so much because I would hate to get more people coming here to the point it gets like Gatlinburg.

I went to Chetola and it was really nice too. I was going to buy a week resale at Chetola but their floating reservations are where you pick 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choices in different seasons and get your week by lottery. I backed out on the sale because I want to come in the summer or during leaf season in the fall, but I wasn't interested in the winter as my snow skiing days are long gone.

You made a great purchase and I doubt you will ever trade it once you spend a summer week here. I try to spend a couple of weeks at the beach every year and a week in the mountains. I own a summer week in Gatlinburg and the week 27 at BRV. My whole family would rather spend their mountain week in Banner Elk even though it is 3 hours farther from my house than Gatlinburg is.
