Coral Reef Resort - HHI

Has anyone been to this resort recently? Any reviews I have found are old and we have a chance to exchange into here in Sept. We are looking for GC quality and a nice outdoor pool. We have been to the Cottages @ Shipyard and didn't think they were too great! How far would the Coral Reef Resort be from Cottages @ Shipyard? If anyone is familiar with this area will you please help me out. I need respond to RCI within 24 hours. Many thanks for any help.

coral reef is adjacent to cottages

I don't know if there are more than one set of Cottages---but CR are the townhouses behind one set of Cottages. Personally, I would stay at Waterside---great pools (one heated) and lovely, big unit--we just got back--it was great! Sept. should not be hard to get. Otherwise, some have said that they really liked the Island Links in the same "Coral family" as CR. Some places give you privileges at Weston, I think??

I just confirmed a 3 bedroom unit for March 14, 2008 for this resort. It would be nice to hear from others that own or have been there recently. I also wonder how warm it will be in mid-March. I love HHI so am happy to be going there again next spring. This resort's website shows a map that has it located near Coligny Plaza in Shipyard. Love the location.

I know there are many HHI dwellers on this board and some who have been to Coral Reef before. Can someone please tell us what the units are like inside. And how far into the resort do you have to drive before arriving at Coral Reef. Is it truly Gold Crown? Are they managed by Spinnaker Resorts? Any help out there???

coral reef is rebamanagement---not Spinnaker

if you do a google search for coral reef and hilton head, you will get coral's website. I think that Coral bought a few of the Cottages units. Supposedly all are up to GC standards---but you also have to take into account the location in a Plantation and the beach and beach amenities, etc. in setting GC standard---- for comparison, few of the timeshares in Shipyard we have been to would necessarily be GC compared to the interiors and amenities of GC TS in Orlando.

you can look at interiors, exterior and pool on the Coral website. It looks perfectly fine, but it's going to be small, laid back townhouse-style community inside shipyard vs. a fancy marriott with lots of pools and amenities.

I think the best Spinnaker is Waterside in terms of quality inside and pools.
