Has anyone who ever owned a three bedroom unit had difficulty trading into a two bedroom unit? I'm thinking of buying a 3 BR unit in HHI and remember reading that RCI will only trade like-units. We really won't need a 3BR all the time, however when all of family gets together, which is not too often, 3 BR's would be great. There is just my husband and I at home now so I'm wordering if this would be worth it. Also when is spring break in Hilton Head?

I own a three-bedroom unit in Hilton Head, however, have never traded it. On the other hand, I have traded a one-bedroom for two- and three-bedroom units. So, I don't think RCI trades likes for likes only. It all goes back to trading power.

I own two three-bedroom units in Sea Pines Plantation on Hilton Head Island during "shoulder season" in September. They trade GREAT into anything in RCI. I always trade down to two or one bedroom units because we don't need the three bedrooms. I have never stayed in these units and purchased them on e-bay a number of years ago to use as traders. SFX also accepts them for their special 3-for-1 deals. I'd keep these except I'm reducing my timeshares since I now have an additional 6 1/2 weeks with my High Country Club membership.

I don't believe you have to worry about trading down into a smaller unit in RCI.

I have a couple more questions then: What would a week in March (3rd week) be like weather-wise? Is it rainy? Is it Spring Break down there? Can anyone help me? And who out there would venture to Hilton Head in March? We have been there on trades two or three times and love Hilton Head but we went in August and in October.

Thank you for your replys.

March weather---anything is possible!

We've vacationed in Hilton Head every year but one since 2000, right on the March/April border, within a week either way.

There have been a couple of years where the weather has been absolutely perfect, warm enough for shorts, swimming and the beach.

In a couple of the years, between the cooler temperatures and the wind, you couldn't stay out on the beach for more than about 10 minutes. It was just too cold!

Even so, you can still walk or ride bicycles---you just have to wear long pants and a sweatshirt!

...and there's always the food (and as my wife would remind you, the shopping)....
