It looks like 26G is a one bedroom interior unit. While I really like the BRV 2 bedroom units, I am not a fan of the one bedroom units, esp the interior units as they have no windows on the side or rear making them dark. They are below the 2 bedroom townhome type units.
BRV is well kept and well located to explore the Parkway and boone/blowing rock, banner elk etc.

Thanks, Derb, I knew we were getting a 1BR, still looks like a great area and a nice resort. Any recommendations for local activities? We have one son with us, 15 yrs old.

The area is loaded from shopping at the Mast stores, Boone, Blowing Rock etc to canoeing at parks on the parkway. The Parkway ride itself is a destination. Many hiking trails, waterfalls(get the book North carolina hiking trails) it will guide you to the major waterfalls. Grandfather mountain and the suspension bridge. Ashville and the Biltmore are about an hour away.
The resort has a fishing lake and boats as well as a miniture golf,( it was in bad shape last time we were there)

Linville viaduct as well as cavern and Linville falls are close by. The is a visitor center at the viaduct and an interesting trail from the center that goes under the viaduct.

There is a Japanese restrauant right down the road in a shopping center that was quite good, not habatchi though.

Be sure to go to elk river falls, easy trail allows you to go right to the edge of the falls and then to the base.

If at all possible, upgrade to a 2 bedroom, maybe you can sweet talk the resort into an upgrade.

You'll love banner elk.

The gem mining was a blast and found a few really nice emeralds and rubies. I loved the mast General store and I think everyone should visit atleast one time. Brings out the kid in the candy store in all of us. The Caves in this area are mediocre at best if you visit many caves.

The Linville Falls hike is a nice hike I very highly recommend the Linville viaduct hike. spend a day just walking that trail and you will always want to go back. (not the best trail for young kids but it can be done)

While at BRV you must do the dinner the resort offers. I think it was $10 for adults but well worth it (VERY GOOD PULLED PORK AND REALLY GOOD CHICKEN). The best thing about the resort is the relaxing and the free board games to take back to your unit and enjoy some real quality time with your family there is also free putt putt (Cheesy but fun) free paddle boats and a few activities that aren't free but fun and affordable.

The units are sort of average and do show some age. My unit wasnt quite as clean as I would like a unit to be but I cleaned a few things and just enjoyed the space. I had a major maintenance issue while there and it was fixed it within the hour.

All in all I would go back any day. I have also stayed at a few other, even a few cleaner and more modern but I think this is my favorite in the area, and if your going in the hot months Banner Elk weather (Summer Temps) are much nicer than a few of the other resort areas.

There is a New Orleans style Restaraunt in town if you love fried foods a must do while in town. cannot remember name it is on the main street in just past the light where you turn to go to the resort. Blowing rock is a fun town to visit for shopping and the city park in the middle of town has a really nice playground for the kids. There is a wonderful Ice Cream parlor just across the street from the park where you can go and buy a cone and sit in the park and enjoy it. (I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE TOASTED COCONUT ICE CREAM)

There are charcoal grills, beautiful views, and tables around the property near all of the buildings. There are also gas grills at the checkin and pool area. 26 G faces the trout pond and is close to the indoor pool, playground, and checkin building. It gets cool at night and this is good in case you want to go for a swim.

As you drive to the units, #5 is the building right past the housekeeping building. It should overlook the small lake and the putt-putt course is to the immediate left facing the lake. It is not far from the checkin area and indoor pool.

Hope this helps.
