Current II-CI partnership status?

I've read a number of posts (as recent as May 2007) that suggest we can trade our Club Intrawest points INTO Interval International.

I called CI today and they said that option only applied to purchases prior to 2000, when CI and II were active partners.

I believe our paperwork and/or the web still says that CI is a partner to II, but need help from anyone who has joined II and actively trades their CI points into II TODAY. How did you convince CI to accept this trade? What do I need to do to be able to do this?

Thanks!

Jeff

I'm one of the people you're probably referring to from another thread. We bought CI points in 2001, and II was our first (and now only - by choice) trading partner. We have an individual II membership.

Do a search here - there was a long discussion a while ago when someone else was looking to do what you wish to do. He was eventually successful, but I'm not sure how he did it.

-Make a full week, sunday check-in reservation at the three CI resorts which trade with II ( whistler, Palm Desert or Tremblant).
-Then call II and say you want to deposit your week with them.
- Then wait for the sparks to fly.

CI isn't happy about letting members deposit with II, but if you are insistant they will let you do it.

If you are going to do this, though, call II first and ask which CI weeks will get ACs - in the past they have given them for all my CI deposits. But this year for the first time they only gave them for January through September deposits.

New to the Board - WHAT is an AC?

And, following this thread through, what happens once I reserve with CI and deposit the week with II? As far as I'm concerned, I'm good, as I can now book my II week, right?

But what happens when the new "user" of my CI deposit tries to check-in and they're not a CI member, or they're not me? Will there be problems? Will CI hunt me down and prevent me from ever doing it again? Will I get a spanking? Am I being paranoid for no reason?

Yes you are being paranoid! :D No need to be. Once you give your week to II (or Redweek, or DAE or SFX, for that matter) the exchange company owns it. They will issue the person who exchanges into it a document that will allow them to check in. In the case of II, it's a 4-page Confirmation Certificate in the name of the exchanger that shows the resort, date, time of check-in and out, etc.

An AC is an Accommodation Certificate issued by II that is an inducement for you to deposit a week with them that they want. Basically it's a second week you get to use for an exchange. It is only good for a year from the date of issuance, and has fees associated with it, and has restrictions as to where and when you can use it. But I have used every one received.

This is completely without worries for you.
- If II takes the week, they must confirm the deposit with CI and once confirmed it is a done deal.
- If CI or II will not let you deposit the week you reserved from CI, you can for a small fee (~$25) cancel your reservation with CI and get all your points back.

Go for it!

very interesting thread... must you be an II member before or with another resort, or can you join with CI being you primary and only depositable TS?

Also, since we are on CI, can resale purchasers have access to EE and RCI? Is there any privilages/benefits that resale purchasers DO NOT get that a developer purchase may be afforded? I did no think so, but our CI presentation today seemed to say otherwise.

Thanks

On the phone with CI now - no luck! Help!

I am on the phone with CI right now and they refuse to verify my points so I can have an active II membership. They say that CI purchases SINCE 2000 may not exchange into II. Has anyone who's been successful puchased their CI since 2000 (other than the one mentioned above - maybe that one slipped through as it was close to 2000?)

Any 2004 CI buyers who trade CI into II?

What's the magic words I need for CI to honor this?

Jeff

Sorry, I just saw this post from Aug 8th.

I believe that we bought after 2000 but will have to look it up. Joined II with my CI just last year.

Edited to add: Yes we joined in 2001
