Finally got my papers!

However... according to the documents the settlement date is Aug 18, when according to the contract it would close in 60 days, this is actually the 61st day. Do I have any recourse? I also worry that our new title and whatnot will not arrive in time because we move on the 22nd. This is very frustrating.

Not a big deal. Closings are often at the mercy of processes beyond the control of the closing company, such as how long it takes the local government to record the deed. It's a much different process than where a local title company closes a home sale and walks the deed over to the registrar to be recorded on the spot.

Contact the closing company and give them instructions regarding mailing the losing documents to you and what they should tell Marriott for your correct mailing address. And if you haven't heard from Marriott by the time you move, contact them every few days until you are in the system to ensure that they have your new mailing address.

It may take a bit of extra work, but you can exert a lot of control to ensure this all goes well.

I figure if it takes less than 4 mos. you come out ahead! Marriott seems to take 3 to 4 mos. max. Have the seller reserve your 2008 weeks and the CHILL!!

Well, what concerns me is that I am working through Marriott, which is why I thought it would go faster. This is such a PITA. The contract we signed said it would close in 14-60 days so it is very frustrating having them err to side of the longest rather than the shortest timeframe. I want to get the week registed to me so I can make my reservation and deposit the unit so I can place a request for next year!

I bought from Marriott and reserved my week for the following year within 2 weeks of purchasing and didn't end up closing for 4 months. One has little to do with another. You cannot bank it until you are in Marriott's system for Interval to verify but you can reserve it NOW!

Thanks for the suggestion. I did just that and reserved June 27-July 4, 2008. Hopefully I will get an AC and some great trader power.
