booking florida flights early

If I book my Florida airline tickets when the Southwest or Jet Blue tickets are released later this month, what happens if the flight costs goes down. Do they refund you the difference if the same flight is available cheaper. A credit is okay with me as I would use it next year.

Shoud I wait awhile before I book. We are going Feb 22 to 29, 2008.

TIA

For FL tickets, I usually book ASAP, because prices seem to do nothing except go UP! (Especially during the timeframe you are going.) Other locations or times, I wait until the price goes down.

I've always gotten credits before though never with SW, I've never flown them so am not familiar with their policies.

For FL I always get when they go on sale and work everything else around what dates I am able to get a flight on. I dont know what part you are flying into, but if its Orlando try other areas. Every time we've gone we've flown into Tampa, its only about a 45 minutes drive to Orlando and the difference in tix prices was a lot!!

Of course if you arent flying into that area then never mind, but still check other airports, you never know!

Good luck!

If you go to Flyertalk and look at their list (their opinions of course) of the worst airline experience it is SW. JetBlue has given my friends refunds but, if you are travelling "in season", I wouldn't expect the cost to go down - expect it to go up! Linda

I already bought my DAL-FLL-DAL for first week in January from SW. Cost was just over $200. have never had a problem getting a credit from SW when price drops but don't expect it to here.

Two weeks ago I was able to get Delta FF savers flights for that time from Salt Lake to Orlando. I suprised me that anything savers for Delta was available.

They have 6 months to jerk my flights around. Its ok this time. Im going on my grandma vacation so the kids can pick me up anytime Delta wants to take me.

Except for the FF tickets I have always flown SWA from Salt Lake to Orlando or Tampa. I like SWA. A long time ago my son worked for them so I got to fly all over for free. So maybe I just have a warm fuzzy feeling about them.

I have received credit for flights but it was a few years back. Where you are flying out of and which airport you are flying into will make the difference. So my experience is from Salt Lake. I wait for the $99 fares even if I have to book one way at a time. I have flown into MCO or TPA depending what flights were available. Sometimes car rentals out of TPA can be alot cheaper than MCO, so you might want to consider that too.

I will be flying out of Buffalo to Fort Lauderdale Feb 22 returning Feb 29.
Southwest has not released there flights yet till Aug 23.
Jet Blue has a good rate and I do not want to loose it. They are offering 3 people for $726.00 including all taxes and fees.

That seems like a pretty good rate. SWA even with thier $99 sale is still $230/person and they are getting pretty stingy with the Saturday low rate fare.

I booked Jet Blue today for the $726.00. I don't think I will get cheaper. They even let you book your seats, Southwest you cannot do that. I will keep my eyes on the fares with Jet Blue, there were a lot of seats still left on the planes.

I checked the rates today on Jet Blue. My return flight has gone up $20.00 in i day, that is $60.00 bucks in one day. Good thing I booked it when I did.

I use SW alot to fly to Orlando. We booked our flights and the price has come down twice. Each time I got a credit for the difference good for one yr.
You can change your ticket right on line, just use your confirmation # put
in the changes and the credit shows up immed. Internet specials only give
credits because they are non refundable. I also have my mom's ticket, a
senior price, her's came down $80.00 and they credited my card.

New to Scene, I see that you are going from Newmarket. We always drive from Scarborough to Buffalo the night belore, and stay at the Williamsville Clarion Hotel on Transit Rd. It is about 5-10 from the Buffalo Airport. Our Park and Fly rate includes room for up to 4 people, breakfast, parking for up to 3 weeks, and shuttle to and from the airport. It makes travelling much less stressful. If you have any questions, email me.

Thanks for the information. We drive down the night before and stay at the Sleep Inn which is just across the road from the airport. They provide the room and shuttle to and from the airport. Last winter is was $89.00 for the week.

Thanks again
