Priceline for car rental
When I bid for a car rental @ $20 per day, does that include the taxes and insurance? Do you have to pay the surcharge for an extra driver?
Thanks, Marilyn |

It does not include fees/taxes. I believe PL will tell you what the total would be once fees are added (and prior to finalizing your bid).

For more info on PL bids and offers, you can go to: www.biddingfortravel.com IMO, I think $20 is quite high for a PL bid. Of course, this depends on the type of vehicle you're bidding on, too. We never go above standard-sized and the highest we've ever bid (and won) was $16 per day. We won our last winning bid a month ago @ $14 pd for a Mid-size/Intermediate Car in Phoenix, AZ. Our cheapest winning bid was $13 pd on a Compact. Anyway, good luck. We love going through PL for cheaper rates.

Whether or not there is a surcharge for a second driver will depend on the policies of the company you end up with. Some companies will allow a spouse to drive at no charge; others (e.g., Alamo) charge for any extra driver.
***** The Priceline bid does not include any of the coverages the rental companies try to sell at the counter. Note that most credit cards provide the same coverage the car rental companies sell, their coverage limits are better, and their coverage is available only if you decline the car rental insurance coverage for the same items. Of course, the coverage is available only if you use that credit card to pay for the rental. The coverage is available if you rent through Priceline. Check with your credit card company to verify what is covered under your card. **** IMHO - most people are throwing away money by accepting car rental coverage after paying with a credit card.
