We are thinking of doing a short trip to Atlantis in Oct. (Hurricanes, I know but, it is our anniversary). What is the food like in the restaurants in the resort? Thank

Donna

incredibly expensive....

I absolutely loved the Dune (over at the Ocean Club). We went for lunch and it was an absolutely amazing time with the view and the food was incredible (and much cheaper than dinner).

I have also been to Bimini road (decent prices) and I really liked the relaxed atmosphere.

We did the trip to Fathoms as well. It was fun, but it is incredibly loud with all of the music and entertainment. Kids would probably enjoy the entertainment and the aquarium right next to your table!

Just make sure you make reservations when you arrive or a few weeks before...or you will be eating very late!

I'd recommend staying at Harborside and making yourself breakfast and lunch and the occasional dinner while treating yourself to some meals. Also check out some of the restaurants in Nassau (concierge at Harborside is a great help)

The basic restaurants, like Muarry's Deli and Bimini Road, we found, were not great. You will be paying $15-16.00 for an entree salad with chicken, which isn't even as good as a salad from Chili's. As a family of 4 we never tried any of the upscale places. Just know that a 15% gratuity is charged on everything...even a candy bar from the sundries shop and the burger places at the pool.

Knowing it's expensive before you go , you won't be surprised. So now go and have fun! It's really a place to see!

We love the Bahamian Club and Cafe Martinique. Cafe Martinique has great atmosphere and the food was very good, that would be my choice for a special vacation. Yes expensive, but that depends on you.

I know most people say negatives about Murrays, but we like it.

Make reservations as soon as you can.

Expensive and lousy service. Tips are included in the bill, so I guess they feel they don't need to work for it. I was prepared for the prices, not the indifferent service. We found we had to order 2 sodas with each meal because refills rarely came. We were happiest with meals off property.

I think the OP may be asking about the "Modified American Plan" which allows you to eat at the buffet restaurants, Murray's Deli and maybe one other place.

We bought it once for a long weekend trip ... typical "big buffet" food lines ... some good stuff, some not so good stuff ... but plenty of food (you're bound to find something you'll like).

Would I do it now? Probably not. I'd splurge on the "gourmet" plan or go with no plan at all. Do I regret doing it when we were much younger and poorer? Not at all. It gives you a way to budget your food dollars -- you know exactly what meals are going to cost in advance.
