Spirit Airlines August 15th $8 sale
Spirit is running a one day fare sale today with one-way rates as low as $8 (plus taxes and fees). Limited dates and availability with the $8 price generally available for some of the shorter east coast routes. Also offering $44, $66 and $88 discount fares. Bookings must be made by 11:59 tonight.

I flew Spirit a week ago and it was a nightmare. Stood in line in the hot sun for over an hour. Total wait time in loine was about 2 1/2 hours. Ditto for the return trip. I suggest waiting until Spirit straightens out its labor problems before booking anything for the near future.

Are they having labour disputes or are these ongoing issues? I was thinking of using them to fly to Cancun this winter.

According to few news articles I read, it is labor problems. When staff calls in sick (decides to work at a slower pace, etc.), flights have to be cancelled. They cancelled several flights out of Ft. Lauderdale the day I stood in line in the hot sun for what seemed an eternity. I live here so I am use to the hot weather but standing in the hot sun with my luggage for such a long time was a miserable experience.
I think it is labor disputes. Last edited by pranas : August 20, 2007 at 12:57 PM. Reason: typo |

We have flown Spirit, NW, and USA3000 out of DTW. All those airlines seem to us to be quite similar in their "delays", "labor issues", and "maintenance" problems. All airlines seem to have "issues" at times!
