We are going to Vegas to sit through the timeshare presentation. Has anyone participated in this presentation?

If so, what do you think of this trip package? We recently heard that it is a scam.

Thank you for your input.

I have no info on the "Soleil Mini Vacations" but there is a post about them on "fraud alert".

Many companies offer a cheap mini vacation of 2-3 nights at a LV resort with the hopes you'll buy a TS at the resort. This isn't a scam! BUT it isn't a good idea to buy a TS without doing your homework. and these presentations tell you that you must buy now or the great deal you're being offered will go away. Just say NO!!There is never a deal which you can't get a month later.

So, enjoy your vacation and learn something at the presentation, but do not buy for any reason at that time.

Most Tuggers will say " you can buy that same TS from a current owner and save anywhere from 50% - 90% off what the TS saleman want. That isn't true, it more like 60% - 99% off.

Good Luck

PS: Welcome to TUG!

We've sat through Consolidated's presentation twice (Club De Soliel, Tahiti and Tahati's Village or their resorts). The first one was one of the most high pressure presentations we've done and was chock full of lies and misrepresentations about their product. The second time we had a salesman who appeared to have one foot out the door and could care less about making the presentation. He went through the motions without giving it any effort. I don't recall the secondary closer on that one so he must not have put forth much effort either. Expect the presentation to last a minimum of 2 hours instead of what used to be the standard 90 minute presentation.

The package isn't a scam but is an attempt to get you to pay >$30,000 for one of their timeshares. It could be considered a scam as they're not really very upfront about it being an attempt to sell you a vacation property/timeshare. Usually that's in the fine print but alludes to you attending a presentation to view a new resort.

It's a new enough resort you'd have trouble finding an owner that would sell out for cheap. However, it is an easy resort to exchange into using any other resort purchased resale that exchanges through I.I. At least I have no problems seeing it even with my lowliest trader in Branson that'a none 5 star resort without any amenities. Personally, I'd never consider buying this one at developer prices.

We did Tahiti Village presentation. (same company that owns Soleil). Make sure that they put you up at a decent hotel. We chose Southpoint and that was a decent hotel. I talked to others that stayed at Hooters, Riviera, Circus Circus, Tropicana. Those are older, not so great hotels. Also ask for a $100 gas card--they won't offer that but push for that. Also ask about staying at Monte Carlo--they may try to charge to upgrade.

They were high pressure & we asked them to "cut" to the chase. They insisted on keeping us 2 hours & quoted Nevada state law. Their developer price was 47K for annual 2 bed timeshare. A similar property just sold on ebay for about $7800. Annual 2 bedroom. The Marriott is about 30K & better in my opinion.

Bottom line: Ask for Southpoint (or Monte Carlo) hotel. Ask for the $100 in Shell gas cards. The slot $ at Royale is nearly worthless, ask instead for an another set of free buffet tickets. Expect for them to take the full 2 hours.
