Upon completion, The Sheraton Steamboat will feature 45 vacation ownership villas and 193 hotel rooms and suites. The resort will also boast completely renovated public areas and upgraded mechanicals. The Sheraton Steamboat will be Starwood’s fifth vacation ownership resort in Colorado, in addition to the St. Regis Residence Club, Aspen; Sheraton Mountain Vista in Avon; Lakeside Terrace in Avon; and the Westin Riverfront in Avon, which is currently under development.

“We have a long history in Colorado and it is an honor to add to our portfolio of world class properties in the state,” said Mathew E. Avril, president and managing director of real estate, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. "Steamboat Springs is the perfect location for a high-end vacation ownership resort and certainly complements our other Colorado locations. The hotel will be truly outstanding when it is refurbished and we expect to begin vacation ownership sales in early 2008.”

I met this week with the Managing Broker at Sheraton Mountain Vista. He said hte new Westin Riverfront Villas will be "over $55k for a 2br ski week". If they can sell them at those prices, who can blame them for wanting to keep building there. The advantage to steamboat is it will be truly ski-in/out which will be nice. IT does seem like alot in Colorado...but lets not forget kauai, cancun, cabo, aruba and desert wilow all coming. That said....i would love a tahoe and so cal beach location.

over $55k for a 2BR ski week

VS fractionals >

Steamboat Grand Resort $75K 2BR 6 weeks ($12.5K/wk) (cheaper)

Trailhead Lodge $150K 2BR 3 weeks ($50K/wk) (same)

Christie Club $220K 3BR 4 weeks ($55K/wk) (bigger)

Porches $320K 4BR 6 weeks ($53K/wk) (bigger)
