Should DH spend all the time to fly to Singapore (all expenses paid) or meet a person somewhere such as London? He has always wanted to go to London and I have relatives there. The other gentleman offered to fly here, however, a free trip is a free trip.

I have visited Singapore about eight times over the past six years - always on my own dime - and have never had a problem finding something new to do. In my view it's worth the trip.

Take a sightseeing bus tour of the city, including stops at interesting temples and other historical buildings and sites. Have a Singapore Sling at Raffles. Visit the unique Night Safari (after dark, of course!) at the Singapore zoo. Visit Underwater World on Sentosa Island. For one meal, plan to sample the foods (some of which are unusual for a Westerner) at the Newton Circus Food Centre. Take a guided water taxi tour of the lower end of the Singapore River. Then sample the nightlife in the clubs adjacent to the Singapore River. Etc.

Between London and Singapore? If it would be his first time for both, I would choose London.

Thanks very much, Dave. I always value your expert opinion and appreciate all the time you give to TUG. (It can't be said often enough.)

Actually, he could probably do both if he wants to..........

I am partial to this side of the world. I'd pick Singapore. In fact we were there just last month to see 'The King & I'. There are loads of things to do and you can even take a day trip into Jahore, Malaysia. It is just across the bridge. If you have never experienced Asian culture this would be a great chance.

Singapore is a great place to visit and can also offer interesting options enroute too. Depending on where he is leaving from he can do very different stop-overs (Pacific/Atlantic). Lived in Singapore for a while and would sometimes plan a quick stop (and sleep) somewhere along the way home (Japan, Hong Kong, somewhere in Europe, Delhi).

Abaco-also can take the Orient Express to Bangkok :)

Thanks everyone

Presently, they want him to come there to see their operation in person. This all happened on the very first day of his retirement from the university!!!!!!! (I didn't tell the gentleman from Singapore that he was on the golf course.)

Go to Singapore if you have a free trip. It is a very modern city state. We were there several years ago. There are plenty of things to see and do for a week. Go to the zoo at night.
