Could someone help point me to a list of Marriotts with just two bedrooms and no lockoffs?

Thanks

Judy

Much like getting a jacuzzi in your suite, based on recent 'new' locations, it seems that lockoffs are a thing of the past ... at least in good times for Marriott. The drop in sales this year for MAR TS might mean more lockoffs are in the plans along with a huge bump in direct purchase Marriott Reward incentive points.

I am not sure, Ile de France is doing lockoffs for 3 bedroom units. I have to say, maybe it's being a newby, but having 2 little ones, the 2bdrm lockoffs are actually off puting.

I agree the lockoffs aren't the best solution as there is always some sound transfer through the door ... more so than through a doorless wall ... so if you have 4 people in the LO and another family of 4 in the 1 bdrm portion, it can be quite noisy.

The advantage is, once you no longer need 2 full bdrms when your family grows up, you can have another week for $75 fee by splitting your suite into two parts. I do that with my 2 weeks in Fort Lauderdale, netting out at 4 weeks in a row from mid Feb to mid Mar - prime snowbird time! With a family of 4 or more it would be tight, if not impossible, but the option is there in the long term.

In addition, you end up with two parts to trade with and often get an AC from II for the 1 bdrm portion deposit ... ending up with 3 weeks for the one suite. That's why the LO suites seem to sell for more than the 2 bdrm non-lockoffs where there are both types at the resort (MMC/MSE).

Brian,
Can you reserve 13 months in advance and then book four contiguous weeks out from there with your MBC units?

Yes ... do it every year, no probs.

Marriott Lock-off

My husband and I just returned from a Marriott MiniVac package at Canyon Villas in Phoenix. I worked for Vacation Club 10 years ago - it is a great concept and we ended up purchasing a week of t/s. Hubby is already retired and I"m planning to do so in 4 1/2 yrs. In the meantime, we now have new way to use my 5 weeks vacation. I think the lock-off is a great option for couples who don't need that much space. And if we want a family vacation, we just need to opt out of lock-off for that particular year. We're also planning on doing the points thing to reserve overseas travel.
We purchased at Canyon Villa because of the ability to use JW Marriott resort, the lock-off feature, low maintenance within Marriott system and the reality that if we couldn't trade or get a week elsewhere, we'd be more than happy to spend a week's vacation in Arizona. We also spoke to random people at the resort and at the hotel, YES, I stopped strangers cold, and all the owners were happy owners. That tells you something, to be sure.

I'd be curious to hear how others have fared with trade of Canyon Villa - we own Platinum week.

Thanks.

Is there a list of what types of rooms ( 3 br, 3 br/loff, 2 br, 2 br/loff, true
1 br and true studios, if any, are available at all the locations?

Yes, you can pretty much tell what unit configurations are at each resort by reviewing the historical maintenance fee schedule, which lists fees for each type of unit at each resort. It's located in the FAQs for this Marriott forum, at the top of the list of topics.

Does owning at Canyon Villas give you full use of JW Marriott? Is it right next door? How much are the MF? I have never been to Canyon Villas but have been to Arizona and loved it there.

Marriott Canyon Villa

Yes, if you own at Canyon Villa you have full use of JW Marriott - they even run a shuttle bus or it's an easy and beautiful walk.
Platinum is approx $28K and if you buy onsite, you receive points bonus at time of purchase.
