Can anyone tell me about this unit at the Pelican on St. Maarten. We are going there in January and we have little info. on the unit as we rented it through a third party (Vacation Homes Only), I am apprehensive. Help would be appreciated.

Thanks!!!

Hi,

I stayed close to yours when down from you last August. They units have a queen bed with a decent bedroom and bath. The kitchens are large and fully equipped. The living room couple probably seat 10 people. I am describing what they call and "E" layout unit.

The unit is large and about 500 square feet. The balcony adds another 80-100 square feet.

You are on the 4th floor so you have nice views of the complex. Being at the back of the complex, you have limited water views.

Right at the base of the building is an olympic size (it's huge) swimming pool. It has a water path under an arched footpath bridge which connects to a very large adult-only pool which also contains a large pool bar.

The building has elevators so no step climbing.

The Pelican is in a convenient local and has an onsite casino which is rare for SXM, very few are associated with a resort.

If you go to www.pelicanresort.com you can see maps and room layouts under "accommodations". Good website in general.

It looks like this is at the end of the Beumontia building which is up the hill and should have a direct view of Simpson Bay. In addition since all balconey's are also a walkway being at the end should be very private since no one should be walking past your unit. It also looks like this unit was recently renovated so I think you got one of the better units in this building at the Pelican. Enjoy!!!!!! :hi:

Hi Larry,

When I was there last August on the top floor of the B building, the views of Simpson Bay were largely blocked by the construction cranes working on the new Marina units. The C buildings have largely lost their views also.

You will be at the end of the Beaumontia building facing away from the construction of the new building. You will have a great ocean view. There is no walkway thru your balcony. Your balcony will be private and not face the pool as it is on the opposite side of the building. If you look straight below you will see the parking lot but look straight ahead and you will have a wonderful ocean view. Enjoy!

Oops, I stand corrected, I misread the diagrams on their website. I stayed in the Bougainvillea building at the south end. You unit is in the Beaumontia Building on the northwest corner.

Timesharejunkie is correct in that you will have views to the northwest of the Caribbean. Simpson Bay is due south so you will not have the obstructed southern view (from the construction).

Sorry for the mistake, the unit numbers on the diagrams are hard to read. I was in B452.
