Timeshare in Manhattan that can be used in 1-2 night blocks?

Does such a thing exist?

We'd (ideally) like something that has a week of time that can be used in small blocks, over weekends (I fear this last is probably the killer). We live in CA and would go to NYC 3 or so times a year if we had something like this (the hotels are a killer). We come for the weekend, so it would typically be 1-2 nights.

Any ideas for such an odd beast?

Cheers.

Thanks for the reply brother coony. I was looking at a site listing sales for Manhattan Club, and the variety was confusing. It seemed that some only allowed a single Saturday, some didn't say anything, even though the actual week was flexible. So, there are different types of flexible weeks based on the way they can be split us? I've also seen a range of secondary market prices for weeks at the MC. What would you say is the price range for the types of weeks we're talking about here on the secondary market?

(And I do see that the maintenance is quite high- like $1K. This is the same range as resorts that require a lot of grounds keeping and such)

Cheers.

Manhattan Club

What you want to look for to get the most flexibility is a full flex week (aka as founder's week). This will allow you to book 3 weekends, 7 single Fridays or Saturdays or any combination.

Another possibility is HGVC's Hilton Club property (there will soon be a second HGVC property). With HGVC, the min. reservation is 3 nights (2 nights 30 days out), with no limits on weekends. Of course, weekends cost more points that weeknights per night.

Welcome to TUG brp!

If you choose to pay the $15. per year fee to become a member of TUG, you will be able to use the "Search" feature at the top of this page to find prior discussions of this topic. You'll also gain access to the members only Resort Reviews section where there is a lot of information about the Manhattan Club.

Many Manhattan Club owners have encountered total frustration trying to reserve nights no matter what package they own. Reservations can be made starting exactly one year prior to the check-in date. If you know that far in advance which dates you will want, it should work out fine. But if you try to book something a few months in advance, especially if it is in a prime season time, you may be very disappointed.

Here's a message I received a few months ago from a member of our club (Greater New York Timeshare Owners Group). She owns an EOY (every other year) week at the Manhattan Club.

"I had a friend call and ask if I could book a room for her for a Monday night (one night). I told her that it was not my year but I would be glad to check for her.

I called Member Services, and was told the rate would be $450. per night BUT there was no availability for the night my friend wanted.

An hour later my friend checked Hotels.com and found a room at the club for the Monday night she wanted and the price was $372. Very interesting. As a member, I get to pay more and am told there is no availability.

Just wanted to share."

Here's a link to one of the many MC discussions you can find if you join TUG:

Hi Jennie. Thanks for the welcome. I've just found TUG bbs, and do plan to join TUG shortly. Even non-TUG-member TUG bbs folks can make use of the search feature, but I couldn't think of appropriate search terms for so specific a question, and some of the appropriate terms would be under the 3 character search minimum. When I first posted, I didn't even know that the Manhattan Club seemed to be one of the few games in town

Thanks for the pointer and the information. I'd been getting the impression (confirmed by you) that getting a weekend a couple of months out would be difficult. Add to that the outrageously (IMO) high MF (I've seen figures near $2000) and the high resale price for the Founder's Weeks, and, even with rental prices as high as they are in NYC, it seems a better deal to rent if one is adept at finding things.

Cheers.
