Hotwire Car Rental??

I have been watching rates for awhile and today I see a much lower rate than I have so far.
West palm Beach airport, standard car, for 6 days for a total of 186.00. Does this sound like a good price or should I wait and bid on priceline? The dates are for Jan 4th thru jan 10th. Thanks!

Priceline

I used priceline and was able to lower the car rate by $100 over Hotwire on a two week rental in Dec out of Tampa.

Usually use hotwire but the priceline gamble saved the $100 so why not? Worst case was to just book hotwire...

Hey Silo :

Have you tried searching for discount codes, promo codes, coupon codes, etc.?

Still hope we can meet up in January.

Yes, I have used a bunch of codes, but Hotwire beats them all so far. I have an avenue I still need to explore. We just inherited an enterprise branch inside our Ford dealership due to the Chevy dealer they were in closing it's doors. I will let them get settled in some before I jump the guy about hooking me up.

January just recently became more complicated for us. We just learned that a couple who are very close friends of ours are being treated by their parents to a week in Orlando the same week we will be in WPB. So they are wanting to drive down and spend a day/night at the beach with us. Thus a trip to the west coast may be tough. That is unless we hit it big on the casino cruise.

I've never used Hotwire before, so I just completed a search for a mini-van from Kona for a week during spring break. I was quoted out the door via Costco through Alamo $374.53 for the week...some months ago. Today I find Hotwire has a mini-van through some an major rental co. for $309.11.

Aside from the price difference, Hotwire wants the $$ up front with no refund for cancellation, where as Costco is simply a reservation at that rate. So for the $64 question...how close do you get to a trip before you book with Hotwire and still see savings?

Maybe for $65 difference it's worth not coughing up the $$ in case things change.

Que sera sera, or, in English, K Sarah Sarah.

Maybe you can come down and visit us on the lake, near Branson.

The Hotwire quote for our January Florida trip was higher than using National with a contract ID and coupn code.

Priceline doesn't offer the airport we use, Sanford/Orlando, but their MCO quote is much lower.

Well the wife says she still would like to see sanibel. So we may still make the trip. The carrentals.com now gives me a slightly better rate through national than hotwire does. It is so strange how these prices change so often.

Since you are dealing with about the same dates, here's what I used with National:

Emerald Club--If you are not signed up, there are some free sign-up sites.

Contract ID--5008716

Coupon--NF2099FJS

I looked at Hotwire prices for our upcoming trip (very close). Its price was $286.36 for a minivan on Maui, versus Priceline at $234.81 (bid at $25/day). It might depend on whether it is high season or not. November is probably low season for car rentals.

I have to book a car for Spring Break also. I think I'll wait until I get back from Maui
