If our 20 year olds stay at the Morritt's Tortuga, how convenient will it be for them to use bus service or taxi to get places? They will not be renting a car.

how much is taxi into the 7-mile/downtown area from the east end?

Is bus service an option to get groceries.

We have a condo on hold and just needing logistic info to make a decision.

thanks,
hudson

There is a Grocery store just a couple of blocks away. A short walking distance.

If your 20 year old wants to be where the action is, then you may want to consider a timeshare on Seven Mile Beach and not the East End. Taxis are expensive, and the bus service (small vans) is not a very good option.

The legal drinking age in Grand Cayman is 18. There is a liquor and grocery store within walking distance. You're out in the boonies at Morritts and if you need more than booze, groceries and the local restuarants (The Reef and Morritts) then you'll need a car.

Morritts is VERY FAR from Seven Mile Beach. Easily a 30-40 minute car ride.

The resort (although very nice) is located on the far East End, secluded, and away from the nightlife. Bus Service and Taxi for a Tourist from the East End to Seven Mile Beach is not a reasonable option.

If they will not be renting a car, and don't want to be "stranded" on the East End, I'd cancel the Condo on Hold.

I agree with scuba and somerville. Your 20 year old will be too far from the westside nitelife action if your at morritts unless the action he likes is watersports. The parties on the dock bar at Morritts and live music at Ivans is fun for all ages. If you stay at Morritts you should probally get a car so you can go to Hell. Then Margaritaville.

We're owners at Morritt's and we love the quietness and the relative solitude of the East End. The Seven Mile Beach area has never appealed to us.

That having been said, I agree with zzScuba. We're in our 60's, and we don't ever stay on the East End without a car. Even if they could rent a car, which they can't, they'd spend much of their time driving back and forth to Georgetown and the SMB area. One thing you absolutely do not want to do on Grand Cayman is to drive after you've been drinking. They have no tolerance for anyone driving under the influence.

I suggest that you follow zzzScuba's suggestion and find something closer to the nightlife.
