I've read past threads about booking 3 days out, etc. I own Seaworld, but want to stay at the other Orlando Aug 2 - 9. Do you think that's going to be an easy reservation? A Tugger is renting a 3 bedroom for me the same time as I rent my 2 bedroom (lots of family coming). Or should we do the 3 day, 4 day thing?

My understanding - I can't try to book 7 nights until Nov 9th (9 months from aug 9th). Is this correct? THANKS:clap:

If you're not booking at your home resort, you can't book until 9 months out from your departure date, not your arrival date. So the earliest you can book should be November 16th if you're looking at August 9th. That's if you're using HGVC points to book the reservation. I'm a little confused to whether you're reserving using your points or trying to rent a unit for cash.

I don't have previous experience with booking that timeframe and assuming you're using your points, I think you'll be ok with just booking the 7days at one time... I base this on looking at the availability in July... There is 100 % availability for all the different size units as of this morning.

Orlando is easy to book, even closer in than the 9 month beginning window. Better to book 7 days, rather than splitting it to avoid paying a second booking fee.

I recently asked a similar question about dealing with the 9-month from depature-date limitation.

If the property has plenty of availiblity, this is not a concern. OTOH, if it is a high-demand property (Cancun), those who make shorter reservations (3 days) have an advantage over those who want to stay longer.

However, since online reservations are changable w/o fee, I was advised that one could book for 3 days to get the earliest possible reservation, and then change that to add another day as each new day became available.

I asked a Hilton rep about this and he said that this was change that Hilton did to cut down on abuse by those who used the check in date to book more time than they intended to use and selling the balance. <shrug>

Thank you!
I'm booking with points AND another Tugger is booking with points and renting to me - so I have 2 units altogether. I'll wait until the 16th (I assume that's because 9 months isn't to a day - that is - it's not Nov 9th)
