Internet access in Manhattan Club

I understand that wifi is available now so we don’t have to go up to the business ctr if you bring your own laptop. My question is, is there special floors/rooms which get better connection?

We were just in 1715 and the connection was variable. Sometimes it was better in the morning than in the afternoon. One afternoon it was so bad I went upstairs. The good thing is that the safe if large enough to hold a laptop.

Ki..,

I too had variable reception in June - I'm not sure what floor we were on but I think it was the 12th or 14th floor. So ended up going up to the business center when it was out.

I'm currently in 1717 and the service fluctuates. The good news is that there is also an ethernet connection that allows free access as well.

I use a broadband card (through the sky) for my internet access both at home and on the road. All the majors, ATT, Verizon, Sprint, etc. offer them. $50 per month and do away with all land line, cable, or whatever costs. This way I'm not captive to what hotel provides or doesn't provide. Coverage varies by vendor. Have to believe that they all work in NYC

Is the cable provided if ethernet service is available or do you bring your own?

Cable is provided, but isn't long enough to work anywhere other than the sofa (in the units I've seen). I have yet to be in a unit where the Wifi was good enough to really use.

The ethernet connection did not work with my laptop, and I had a terrible time disconnecting it from the laptop.

"The ethernet connection did not work with my laptop, and I had a terrible time disconnecting it from the laptop." What do you mean?? Do you mean physically? Did it damage your laptop?

I had a room on 2nd floor facing inner courtyard of tall buildings on all sides so all signals were dead. I had no wifi or cell phone reception.

Ahmo,

Sounds like you were in one of the new Metropolitan Studio units. Is that correct?

Yes I did get one of the Metropolitan suites. The room is small, but nicely remodeled. Furniture, linens and towels are higher quality than the remodeled rooms upstairs.

yes, I mean physically, and I don't think I damaged the computer. The plastic piece was just very hard to get out.
