Resorts: Discovery Beach in Cocoa Beach, FL
Venetian Pool - Coral Gables

Hubby and I just booked a January week at Vacation Villages Weston near Ft. Lauderdale. We're usually picky about being on the beach. But this year a family members illness and death meant we didn't pre-plan much of anything. I reminded hubby of how many times we have stayed ocean-front and then got in the car and drove to a new beach, anyway.

We are somewhat familiar with Ft. Lauderdale - Miami area. I googled some information on the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables because it is someplace that I've always heard of, yet have never been to. While I googled that, I also found out there is a place nearby called the Venetian Pool in Coral Gables.

The photos looked pretty. However, I'd love to have someone comment on what their actual experience was there. We are also going to check out the area of Coconut Grove. We have been to Viscaya once and I believe it is in that area. Anything else around there I shouldn't miss? (We've already done the Fairchild Tropical Gardens).

The water will be pretty COLD that time of year.

Sunday brunch at the Biltomre is a MUST.

Visit 8th street for Cuba food/sights.
