Air Fare to Phuket

I'm searching for air fare to Phuket next June (2008) and most options seem to be almost $2,000 per person round trip from Salt Lake City.

Just wondering how much others have paid from the US to Phuket and if I should wait for fares to come down?

Thanks!

I think you will be able to find something closer to $1000 or a bit more than that. You will need to look at SLC - BKK and BKK - HKT separately. You will be able to ticket them together, but a lot of the search engines won't show SLC-HKT. You should also try pricing SFO/LAX - BKK with an add-on from SLC and to HKT to see if that works out better. Flights within Thailand are cheap, even for business class.

Either way it's an expensive trip for a family. Are you sure you really want to go in June? For a once-in-a-lifetime trip, you might be better off going during the dry season. Thailand is close to the equator. It's very hot and sticky there in June.

Thanks David for the info. I'll check on some flights as you suggested.

I know June is hot and humid in Thailand, but my son is considering it for a honeymoon. They've been warned, but still think it sounds like a relaxing vacation after all the stress of college graduation and a wedding. I guess if you have pools, beach & air-conditioned accommodations you could relax and enjoy the honeymoon, inspite of the hot, sticky weather.

I would think Hawaii would be ideal for them at that time of year, but go figure.

It may be too early to find decent fares to Phuket for next June. You may just to have to keep checking. I find expedia to be pretty good for pricing fares to Asia.

I always overnight in Bangkok on the way to and from Phuket, but that's mostly because of United's schedule. The flight arrives close to midnight in Bangkok and leaves early in the morning. The cheapest fares in January (and June, for that matter) seem to be on China Airlines, which has connections in Taipei, and Korean airlines with connections in Seoul.

LAXMOM. You gotta be kidding (Thailand in June) You probably can do better as David said checking alternate connections -especially those with connections to Phuket. If you want to go out of San Francisco you could get a free stopover at Tokyo before going to Bangkok on Air Nippon for about $1200. Maybe try going to Australia and then catching a flight. The big expense is the mainland to mainland jump. Of course, a tour package might be even cheaper! GOOD LUCK P.S. Maui can be VERY relaxing in June.

I know Hawaii would be an easier flight and probably much more pleasant weather!! I've warned them about the Phuket weather in June, but they still want to go.

However they have both been to Hawaii numerous times and they think it would be great to see Thailand & Phuket. I think they just want to do something different for the honeymoon.

They're young- hopefully the heat, humidty & rain won't bother them too much! I've got an exchange into the Marriott Phuket Beach Club (can still cancel until tomorrow afternoon) and booked the JW Marriott on Marriott points.

I've never been to Tailand and always wanted to go. You have nice places for them to stay. Hopefully the weather isn't too bad. How hot is it in June?
