Southwest Airlines - schedule expanding a/o 12/20/07 - Timeshare Users Group Online Community Forums

Has anyone visited SWA reservations, Travel Tools section, recently?
It seems that the upcoming reservation schedule will expand well beyond the standard 180 or so days inventory, all the way out to Aug. 22nd!
Anyone have any insight as to why the reservation schedule has been expanded and the change to 180/120??

"We are currently accepting air reservations through May 9, 2008. On December 20, we plan to open the schedule for purchase through August 22, 2008. This date is subject to change! Please check back frequently."

This is great news, especially for those of us who need to book our college kids' holiday and back-to-school flights. I used to hate having to wait until some unknown day in October to book my son's flight home for Christmas. I'd be online at 5am every day trying to hit the first day of the new fares.

This should be a boon for those planning school and summer vacation travel.

Maybe they are hoping that opening the schedule out further will make flyers happy...and therefore less unhappy about the fare bucket changes and boarding pass changes.

"Give them the bad news and then distract them with a bit of good news" approach to customer relations.

Yeah, could be some truth to that......and they may want to begin assessing demand for summer travel period that will reflect those increased fares.

Here's hoping they don't raise prices even more when the schedule opens in December....
