Location
Marlboro, Ma.
Looking for a place close to NYC for a 2 night stay on our way home over X-Mass. We want to visit the city and need a place thats safe and clean, does not have to be fancy.

We just stayed four nights at the Sheraton Manhattan (on 51st between 7th and Broadway) for $279 + taxes per night. It's not great, nor is it bad, but the location is GREAT (walking distance to both Central Park and Times Square).

I recommend Secaucus, just 4 miles west of the Midtown Tunnel. It is serviced by express busses that run non-stop to the PA bus terminal 1 block from Times Square. Can usually get rooms in the $150+ per night range. Lots of hotels to choose from ranging from Red Roof Inn to the Hilton and Sheraton.

At 1/2 the price of Manhattan, it's worth a 15 minutre bus ride or $30 cab ride home late at night. And Secaucus is the land of outlet shops. Folks drive there from 100 miles away just to shop.

Sheraton Suites at Hudson in Weehawken, NJ. A mile or less to Lincoln Tunnel and about a mile to Hoboken, NJ - an awesome place with lots of restaurants.

I second Weehauken. Great Ruth Chris Steakhouse and Chart House (upscale seafood). And my Mom was born there !!!
