Anyone stayed at these Williamsburg resorts recently

How is the overall condition of the Interior Furnishings,
(did they put in new furniture and pillow top bedding)
common area`s like the lobby, lounge, pool & grounds

What are some of the major improvements

Resorts: RCI Points- VRI Villas of Sedona, MROP rotator
We were at Patriots Place in May for the Jamestown 400th. I thought our unit was pretty worn and we could hear people's activities in adjoining units. The grounds were beautiful, and there were painters working around the place. Kingsgate, where we visited and used the recreational facilities and Wi-Fi, seemed newer, and the buildings anyway, better maintained.

OTOH we were there on a Last Call for $159 so it's hard to complain.

Renovations at Kingsgate & Patriot's Place

Marty+++

I am living most of the year in Wmsburg now, mostly at these two resorts.

Both are undergoing MAJOR Renovations.
Last winter they renovated about one-third of the units; this winter they will do another third and finish the last third in 2009.

At KINGSGATEthe unit renovations include:

New (but smaller) PREMIUM beds with Pillow-Top covers. Master Beds now are Queens and 2nd BRs look like Fulls.

Mostly new LR/DR funiture and appliances including Flat Screen TVs in the LR.

The Jacuzzis are removed from almost all the 2BR units (there were never any in the 1BRs)

Also Lighter Colors and window treatments brighten the rooms and make them feel bigger..

The renovations are especially dramatic in the One BR units.

Before they felt a bit cramped and the Kitchenette was almost unworkable.

There's now space to walk around the beds in the BRs and the LR feels MUCH BIGGER since the Flat Screen TV console in the LR replaced the giant TV console which seem to dominate the room.

Previously there was NO Room for kitchenware/utensils which were stuffed into closets & crannies, NOW, there lots of rooms for drawers etc because the full sized oven is replaced by a counter top burners and a full sized microwave/convection oven mounted above a counter. I even cooked a 12lb turkey in that oven!.

So these One BRs are perfectly good for a couple and will no longer make 3 or 4 people feel like sardines.

As for the 'common areas' at Kingsgate:

The Rec Center has been turned into one of the largest and best video arcades in the mid-Atlantic. There is also a new on-site restaurant that serves BBQ and also has a bar. There's also now a big outdoor grilling area near pools for sping/summer/fall poolside cookouts. The mini golf remains and the fitness center has all Brand New equipment including an excellent circuit training regime.

Of course, Kgate now REQUIRES all guests who want to use any of the amenities to pay a $5/day per unit fee. If you have big family and/or you like the video game scene, it's a terrific bargain because once you are in it's all free. If you're not gonna use the stuff, try to get out of paying the fee when you checkIN.

As for PATRIOTS PLACE, the renovations are limited to the Units and are not as dramatic but are along the same theme.

I've not stayed in one of the renovated units so can't fully judge them. I've stayed in my favorite units with the best views which haven't been renovated yet -- but they are now working on my favorite building which I will test out next spring after my winter in Florida!!

Hope this helps!

Allen
top range which leaves lots of space for drawers and a dishwasher.

I've seen some unique signature lines but that may take the prize.

Governor's Green is very nice. The units are very large and was one of the nicest I've stayed in.
