A couple of months ago we were excited about our first E-Bay purchase.

It is through Vacation Innovation Network and closing through Timeshare Closing Service.

Due to persistence of my husband we found out through the resort that

1.Seller gave the wrong deed and power attorney to VIN to close on the property. Seller had a smaller unit, which he upgraded within the resort. But deed provided to VIN was for the smaller unit as well as the Power of Attorney.

2 We received a month ago closing papers, all wrong describing another property. So my husband got involved. VIN did not catch discrepancy, neither title insurance company. We returned all papers.

3. Resort told us VIN could not close with that Power of Attorney, as it covered a different unit which seller did not own anymore. Kindly Resort sent to Seller a new deed, so seller can prepare a new Power of Attorney for closing company to prepare papers.

I am disappointed with so many errors not noticed by everybody involved.

Some of you told me in previous post sthat I was worrying too much (paranoid?), but is the seller trying to pull a fast one here? Any comments or ideas on what else too look for? Our money is still in escrow, and EBay company has an excellent rating.

Thank you!

If the seller doesn't have what he sold you, just ask for your money back. If it doesn't match what was listed on eBay, they'll refund your money, but not unless you ask. Don't think anyone's trying to pull a fast one, the owner probably didn't have any idea what eh/she really owned and the middle man didn't check.

VIN Network

I have purchased several timeshares on ebay via Vacation Innovation Network.

This company is highly reputable, and consistently tries to maintain professional service.

All my purchases, went through fine, and were accurate.

The company is a high volume ebay reseller, and I am sure at times a mistake can happen.

VIN will refund your money, or get the matter corrected in due time.

VIN is one of the post card companies (PCC) which are mentioned several times here on TUG. The PCC's business practice are IMHO slimey. They get their TS from people by telling the people that TS are worthless and if they (the owner) doesn't pay the PCC $2000 or more that they will never be able to get rid of their TS. the PCC then says if you pay us the $2000 or more we will take the TS off your hands. The owner naturally assumes that means the PCC will take title to the TS. But that isn't what happens. The PCC gets a power of attorney (POA) and then using that power of attorney sells the TS on ebay. Since several resorts will work only with the owners and not someone with a POA, it isn't unheard of that there are problems.

VIN wants to have all sales go smoothly, so they do a pretty good job dealing with the buyers. And you're likley to get your money back or the TS you thought you were buying. BUT when dealing with these PCC like VIN you must be aware you're not buying from an owner but from someone who told a number of lies to get the POA to sell the TS.
