My husband needs to get to Fayetteville NC from Sarasota Fl., one way, sometime this week. I have tried Expedia, Travelocity, and Orbitz and a one way fare is $300+! I need some suggestions on finding a better price, if we can. He can go anytime between today and Sun. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Sherry

one way tickets are more expensive than a round trip, so look for a price for a round trip with a return........then you just use the first half.......at least that use to work......
Airline tickets have gone up. I priced a ticket from Pgh to Charleston, SC a month ago and round trip was $247. Yesterday it was 338. same dates of travel in June. Guess it goes up with the gas prices.

try Tampa instead

You can save a lot on airfare if you book to Tampa and get your car there.

I agree with flying from Tampa. $200 on DL, $207 on US on Thursday this week. That's per Orbitz. You can save a few bucks by booking the same flights at the airline's site. One-way trips on many airlines, including US, are now almost always less expensive than a round-trip ticket.

Thanks!

I just found a flight on Cheap tickets for $199.87 out of Tampa. It's alot further to go but MUCH cheaper. And he even got a 9am flight that gets him ther about 1pm. He has to fly there to pick up a car that we are selling down here. We bought an RV there and left our car there to be picked up later. It was fun to drive down to Fl. in the motor home. We even stopped at an RV park and visited ST. Augustine for a couple of days. This is all new to us....but it seems like it will be a fun way to travel esp. with the grandkids.
Thanks for all the suggestions, I hadn't even thought to check out Tampa...just Ft. Meyers and Sarasota...

Confirming my earlier statement, it's as low as $195.80 from Delta's website. And he'll earn FF miles, which he might not from CheapTickets. 8:05 a.m. to 12:55 p.m.

When I lived in Bradenton, I always flew in and out of Tampa. It was an hour ride to Tampa airport. Sarasota was only 10 minutes away, but they didn't have non-stop or direct flights on mainline aircraft to many locations, and the prices were higher, as you found out. Sarasota is basically a regional airport. After 9/11 it lost a lot of destinations. Tampa is a major airport. Tampa also happens to be a very nice airport.

There's also an airport in Clearwater that some airlines fly out of. It's across the bridge from the Tampa airport. I never found a use for it, but at the time one of the major discount airlines flew out of St. Pete/Clearwater airport.

It looks like Allegiant Air flies out of Clearwater, but it doesn't look like they fly to Fayettville.
