Exchange strategy

I have an ongoing search for two weeks in Hawaii for early 2009. I have already matched one week (Jan 31 start date) at the Marriott in Oahu.

I have my other search still in place for either Maui or Kauai, using a non Marriott week. Admittedly for touch exchanging, which include the new Marriott in Kauai as well as the Westin in Maui.

My question is, what do you all think about throwing another Marriott week into the search and see which one matches first?

I am leaning towards really wanting to stay at the new Marriott in Kauai, (sorry, can't spell it...... ) so I figured adding a a Marriott would give me the Marriott priority.

Does anyone see any potential flaws in this senario? I know there might be a mighty slim chance both could match at the same time, but I don't really think that would happen.

The Marriott priority isn't a trade power issue, it is a timing issue. Your Marriott deposit gets to 'see' other Marriott deposits for 24 days before your non-Marriott can see it. So if your Marriott deposit has the 'power' to pull your request, it will always trump your non-Marriott, even in the flexchange arena there's still a few day Marriott only window.

Ok, so never mind that idea.

I was going to pay to extend one of my Marriott weeks that are good through mid Nov. I wanted to use that one to put in the search with the other Marriott.

I just got off the phone with Interval and the VC told me if you extend a week you can only book within a 60 day period!

What a stupid policy.
