We will be on the Carnival Pride this May and since our child isn't potty trained he won't be going in the pools on the ship. He loves the water, so we are trying to figure out a good swimming beach for children in Puerto Vallarta? Any suggestions would be so helpful! I haven't been to PV in years and have no idea where to take him for the day we are in port.
Thanks!!!!

(forgot to add...he is 2 yrs old...so calm water beach would be great.)

In all of Banderas Bay there isn't a single beach I can think of in which I would swim, let alone allow my infant child to play. I haven't visited any of the beaches that you can only access via boat; those would be the only places I would consider.

In almost the entire area, water sanitation conditions are marginal at best - and that's during the dry season. During the wet season conditions are worse.

Why don't you just use swim diapers. We have used them for years and they work great. I would think he would be a very unhappy baby if he can't get in the pools.

Carnival does not allow swim diapers because the pools are not Chlorinated, they are salt-water. If they were chlorinated he would be in it everyday! :)
That is why I was hoping for a nice swimming beach at all the ports.

Sounds like you should start working on potty training - you've got three months. It can be done. I was a stay at home Mom when my boys were small, but they both were potty trained very near their 2nd birthday. My grandson took longer, but his parents did not work on it - they seemed to think it was the responsiblity of the daycare. I kept him one week when he was about 2-1/2 and we worked on it diligently that week. He went home and had very few accidents after that. The swimming pool on the ship should be a good incentive for him. Even 2 year olds can grasp the concept of you can't swim if you are going to pee or poop in the pool. My grandson did - he wanted to go to the pool at our condo complex.

ok, thanks for the potty training advice. ;)

Krystal

In the past, Krystal has allowed day use of its pools (about a 10 minute walk from the Marina) for about $20. That might be a safer bet than the ocean if Krystal still has that program.

Thank you, I will look in to that! :)
