Long Distance Car Rental Suggestions?

We may be driving from CT to Nashville this summer, a distance of about 975 miles each way (just shoot me now). While (knock on wood) it's been very reliable, my SUV has 120K miles on it and is a gas guzzler, so I was thinking about renting something more fuel efficient (and newer) for the trip. However, most of the car rental websites I've looked at only offer unlimited mileage within certain states--for example, the furthest from CT I can get is WV before charges of $.10 per mile kick in. Has anyone ever rented a car for a long distance, round trip like this before? Are there any truly unlimited mileage agreements available? i should mention the total length of trip will be about a week, give or take a day or two. TIA!

Resorts: USA: Cypress Pointe I & II (Orlando FL), Crown Point Condos (Horseshoe Bend AR). S. Africa: Lowveld Lodge (Mpumalanga).
Craig's List.

You could hop onto Craig's List & see if anybody is looking for a driver to move a car from your area down to Nashville.
