Fares from Oak to Boston went up $30 in a week's time. Once the lower fare is gone, is there any hope for it to return? The policy as stated on their web page is that the fares are driven by demand. So if the lower fare is already bumped up, how could demand ever go back down to a lower fare? Thanks for your help in explaining this.

I think the fare could still go down. As you're probably aware, fares fluctuate all the time. One way the "demand" could go down is that perhaps it's actually a "perceived demand" and if ticket sales slow down more than the airline anticipated after an increase, they'll drop back down again.
Another way fares could go back down would be if AA or UAL added flights to Boston out of SFO...with more seats in the market, prices would drop (and OAK should be close enough to SFO to be deemed the same market). |

I would think they would go down if, close to travel time, they have a good amount of seats still available. I think their fares fluctuate quite a bit. But- keep in mind that if you buy high now and the fare drops, if you call them they will put the difference into a credit in your Jet Blue acc't for use next time.

I did not know that they will put the difference in an account. That makes buying high less risky. Thanks for the info.

Yes, you get a credit is the fare goes down, but you have to use it within a year or lose it.
I applied to Jet Blue for a reservationist position a few years ago. I sent my application in October, and didn't hear back from them until after January. Then I had to go in for a series of interviews, and had a series of telephone interviews. This took them a couple of months. They finally offered me a job 4+ months after I had applied, and wanted to schedule me for training. The training involved 2 months of working everyday. If you missed one day, that would terminate your job. When I looked at the schedule it felll right in the middle of Easter. We had a week in Hawai we had planned over a year out, and had already bought airfare. I tried to talk to them about it, they said there was no flexiblity, and if I accepted the job I would have to cancel my vacation. Needless to say, I went to Hawaii. Darlene |
