I know someone w/ a Disney Boardwalk timeshare. How would a 1 BR Prem at Harborside compare w/ a trade at Disney Boardwalk? Is it worth me asking this person if he's interested or would I be better off renting my week and taking the money and getting a place somewhere?

thanks

Theoretically they are comparable, but it all depends on what the seasons are for each.

If you would otherwise rent your week out, estimate what your rental income might be. For example, perhaps you could rent it out for $2500.

Then figure out which week you might want to go to DVC's Boardwalk Villas, and which size villa you would need. Multiply the number of points by $10-13, and that will give you an idea of the rental value. If the week you want might require 250 points, then that would equate to $2500+ for that Boardwalk week.

If those numbers are comparable, then I would say it is a fair trade, and would be easier than renting yours out, especially if you work with a DVC member who is helpful.

For most months, I think the trade is pretty even and fair.

Its just a matter of details of which week. I think if you are both trading within the same reason, its fair. If Harborside was for September and Boardwalk was for July, then no.

Well, if its early nevember is still a good deal. Thanksgiving weekend and the the trade should be for a BWV Studio.

We own both. If you were to reserve these properties as an outsider, just through regular reservations, the cost for the reservation is about the same.

During holidays, BW is about 1300/night for a two bedroom, Harborside is about the same. Just another way to look at it.

If cost weren't a factor I'd take a Harborside studio over a 5 bedroom Disney palace .:D

I've been both places, trust me cost is a factor at both (but evenmore at Harborside).

Harborside is Disney Bahamas

thank you all for the great input. Its a toss up which would end up costing more... food and drinks at Harborside are a fortune - and Disney is expensive too. Maybe I can get lucky and find some discount/event tix for Disney when we decide to do it.

This year is Cancun, 2009 will be Bahamas or Disney - tough decision:whoopie:

Again, thank you all.

Sit down restaraunts at Disney are likely to be as expensive or higher than simular restaurants at Harborside. You can check menus and prices for both online.Rooms being of equal cost Harborside would cost less -park tics

LOL, I think that is just about right!

Own at Both

I would consider a 1BR at BWV for a 1BR Premium at Harborside a fair trade. You could go nuts figuring out who would come out ahead in the end $ wise, but why bother. As long as the accomodations workout for the both of you, I say go for it. It's easier than depositing into II!
