Interval - Q regarding ongoing search

I have placed a "deposit first" ongoing search with II for a studio, and have already paid the exchange fee and paid for a guest certificate. Each day, I go online to see if any units show up in certain other resorts that would be acceptable if they were 1-bedrooms units.
My question - if I find something I like and do the exchange - how does this work? Do they automatically cancel the ongoing search and apply the fees paid to the exchange I am making? or do I have to pay the fees and then call to cancel the ongoing search. Just want to be prepared for the process.

Thanks.

Dugef.

IF you have an ongoing search and you decide to exchange into another area using the same request the fee is already paid. If you use another week and don't cancel the request you will then have to follow their cancellation policy.

Thanks, but I guess I am not following. What do you mean by "another" week? Maybe someone can spell this out in a bit more detail.

I've never done a deposit first request but I've done ongoing requests. There have been a few times where I found something online that works for us and just exchanged into that unit. If you search with your studio that you have the ongoing request with when you exchange it into the request it will cancel the prior request. The system will let you know if you owe extra money like if you ended up exchanging to an international unit when your original request was for a domestic unit.

Why did you order a guest certificate?

Assume you have two weeks available in your II account. One week (#1) is assigned to the ongoing search request and you are charged the exchange fee. If the second week (#2) is used to reserve the new exchange, you are charged another exchange fee and the ongoing search with week #1 continues. If week #1 is used to request the exchange, the ongoing search is automatically cancelled and its exchange fee is applied to the new exchange.
