Spirit Airlines ??

I am considering booking a flight on Spirit from Fort Lauderdale to Nassau (Harborside) and then from Nassau to Myrtle Beach. I read several negative comments about this airline on Tripadvisor. Is anyone familiar with this airline? Any other reasonably priced airline you could recommend for my route? TIA.

I've flown Spirit many times with no problem. They go to and fro Atlantic City and I choose them when they are going to my destination because of the location convenience. Was hoping to fly Spitit to LAX in March but they must have discontinued those flights.

I've used them several times, with no problems. However, I fly from Bos to Myrtle Beach round trip.

There have been some posts with problems from FT Lauderdale to the Carribean. I just tried to find them, but didn't come up with what I was going to link. The big problem seemed at the Ft Lauderdale end/beginning if I remember correctly.

Hopefully that has resolved itelf by now.

Here's a thread from a little back .I'm hoping they did get the Fll situation corrected .It seems as if after the summer of 2007 some say service got better .They have some great fares and good direct flights .

We had to cancel our exchange to Grand Cayman becaus of Spirit or Orbitz. depending on which of them you care to side with.

That was about the same time as the reports of problems in Ft. Laud, and our flight was going through there.

We used Spirit to fly Ft. Lauderdale to Grand Cayman Jan.27, return Feb.3
Everything was normal, flights on time, no baggage problems. I heard that there are occasionally some delays in Fl. L. caused not by Spirit Air but by badly coordinated or managed activities of ground personnel. An example I was told about were delays in getting a plane to the gate to facilitate servicing and boarding when the ground service crews ignore safety rules in using and/or parking their vehicles and equipment. Looks like the problem is with airport management, not with Spirit or other airlines.

I have signed up for $ 9.00 fare but no emails from them

Flew from FLL to St Maarten without any problems.
I signed up for their $ 9.00 fare club by getting their Master Card, but not have recieved any emails from them for 2 months. Can't find any where that I can communicate with them.
P.S. They charge for any luggage.

I considered flying Spirit to Cancun, but I'd read too many negative comments about their "fly by night" operation to trust that they would get me to my destination as planned, or if there was a problem, would actually attempt to resolve it. The complaints against this airline seem to relate as much to their CS response as they do to actual flights.

Perhaps if I did not value my vacation time so highly, I'd chance it. But when I found a similar Delta flight with a fare not much higher, I jumped on it.

Spirit Airlines

We drive to Myrtle Beach and fly Spirit to FLL and than drive down to KW. I also fly from MYR to Atlantic City often, never had a problem. Yes, they are now charging to check your baggage. As of tomorrow, checked luggage at the airport is $20.00 a bag. I paid to check our luggage back in May on US Air--Raleigh to Newark. kelsie

My advice----may the force be with you and arrive 3 HOURS early to FLL as terminal 4 is the worst.

Well, Spirit's prices were much much better for my itinerary so I went ahead and booked today during their "24 hour" sale. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Both hands.

For the record, their planes, prices, and routs were fantastic....their check-in and luggage area at terminal 4 at FLL is the WORST.
