Best airport to use for Sarasota. FL

I am coming from the west coast. I am thinking of flying into Tampa. Can I do better than that?

Price-wise, the Tampa Airport, TPA, is probably the best. Driving-wise, we love to fly directly into SRQ, Sarasota/Bradenton Airport. Another choice close than TPA is the Clearwater/ St. Pete Airpot, PIE. Pie sometimes has good fares!

Flew from DAY to SRQ on Delta. It was cheaper than TPA and a nice little airport. Its right up the street from the Ringling Museum which is a great place to kill some time if you have a later flight.

Cheers

I always flew into Tampa when going down there, but a couple of years ago two of my kids were flying down to join us mid-trip. I had the button on to "search nearby airports" and the fare for Sarasota was actually cheaper. It is a small airport. Very easy to get into and out of when we picked them up. It was a great surprise to see the fares lower to there. Be sure to check all possibilities.
