connecting flights
I booked a flight leaving from Islip(long island) airport to San Jaun with one connection in Philadelphia. The time between flights is 1 hour and 35 minutes. I keep hearing about people missing connecting flights and I'm wondering if this was a mistake. I could have flown from JFK, but I would have what is normally an hour and fifteen minute drive in Rush hour and was concerned about getting stuck in traffic.
Is an hour and 35 minutes usually enough time to catch a connection? Or is that too risky. My trip is only 3 days long, so if I miss the flight it would be really awful. |

If you booked it as one, allbeit with a connection, the airline is obviously happy enought with the connection time being adequate. If, however, you booked with one airline to Phili then another to San Juan, I would be thinking twice about it. When we lived in Europe and were coming over here, we either had to fly from where we lived to Madrid a 1 hr. flight, or to London, 2 hrs + and I was always concerned about connecting flights.

I agree. If it is booked as one reservation with a connection then you should be fine. Many airlines will allow as little as 45 minutes for connections.
However, if you have booked a flight to Philly and then a seperate flight to SJU you are cutting it close and may have trouble depending on how close one gate is to the other as well getting checked luggage, if any. That isnt taking into account any delays either.

Thank you. I feel better now. They are both US Air flights.

Other than it being the Useless Air and Philly combination resulting in nightmares regularly occurring, it should not be a problem since they will check everything at Islip.
