Sunterra Poipu Repurchase Opportunity

We received an email from Sunterra (now Diamond Resorts) advising us that they may be interested in repurchasing certain intervals.

I called and was given an offer of $6000. We own a 2br, even year (4500 Sunterra points per year).

We are not actively looking to sell, but I was curious as to what we would be offered so I called.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Do you want to sell.? What was your purchase price. ??? Is it a fair offer. Can you get more in a privare sale.? Diamond seems to be buying some resorts back. May need inventory. Can make money on sale again. As you know, their fees have gone up . Hard to sell resale. Resale prices are down. There are owners who are not happy with their timeshare for what ever reason. You have to see if it is O K with you. . I do not have all the info to give you a good answer.

A $6,000 offer from a developer is a pretty reasonable offer. What I'm owndering is why. Are they looking to resell it at developer pricing of perhaps $40,000 or more? Are they looking to rent it out rather than sell it because they can make larger profits that way?

I've read a few other posts like this and it's starting to make me wonder exactly what DRI has up it's sleeve and how it's going to affect me either good or bad.
