Using up points

A friend needs to use his points up soon. We would like to use a week he know is advertised on RCI today. Can he book it in our name and then we pay him his costs? He just wants to use up the points and will not make a profit on it. We are not members of RCI.

Technically all he is allowed to recoup, I believe, is the exchange and/or guest fee through RCI. I don't have points, but I'm sure he can just make the exchange and get a guest certificate for you. If you decide to give him a gift in appreciation ...

As I recall, Madge (who used to be our RCI spokesperson) posted that in these circumstances your friend could give you a week and ask reimbursement for the guest certificate fee and the exchange fee, but not the maintenance fees he paid for the points. Renting an RCI week is against RCI's policies and RCI does enforce those policies.
