Can MF at Smuggs REALLY be close to 2K ?

There is an ebay listing for Smugglers Notch 3BR; it lists the maintenance fees at $1920.

Is that right?

I've read that the place is nice; and alot of activites for kids---but $1920 MF ?!!

The TUG sales database doesn't list any sales with MF that high---what's up?

Somewhere in the back of my mind I thought they were a resort that handled the blue and possibly white weeks problems with pairing of a more desirable week. You, for each ownership had two weeks, a desirable week and a not so desirable week.

If the amount is for two weeks usage I kind of can see it. Wouldn't do it but can see.

Wow, my co-worker owns a 2br there, but I can see why they have high MFs cause it cost to have all of those amenities.

I'd call the resort on that. I thought the amenity package for owners was a one-time buy in, which is maybe being lumped in with maint?

I don't know about Smuggs, but there are definitely timeshares where the MFs for one week's ownership are in the $2000 range. I think some Harborside at Atlantis weeks have MFs this high, as do some Four Seasons weeks. The Disney Vacation Club is a points-based system, so it's hard to say exactly what constitutes a week, but if you wanted enough points for a week at a 3-bdrm at Boardwalk Villas during peak season, your annual fees would be over $4000.

I own a 3 BR at Smuggs. My MF's are approx. $650/week. I own a fractional. Smuggs sells both single week packages and 2 week packages as timeshares in addition to fractionals and whole ownerships. MF's are slightly less for fractionals. However, they're not 1/3. It's possible that this is a 2 week package with 2008 MF's. Last time I looked at a 3 BR 2 week package, a couple of years ago, they were about $850/yr for each week. Smuggs increases have gone up about 3-4%/year. MF's vary by building.

I have stayed at Smuggs twice (exchange, rental). I am not an owner there. It is nice, but they nickle and dime you for most of the activities/amenities. Most people compliment for a nice vacation but complaint about high costs of participation in most activities.
