Advice on first time visit to Atlantic City

My mother and I will be visiting AC for the first time Apr 25-May 2 and are staying at Fantasia Resort. Are there any particulars I should be aware of?

We will be going to Cape May for at least a day visit and have booked one show. I plan on visiting the lighthouse. Are there any 'must see's' or 'stay away from' places? We like to see the sites and attractions in places we visit.
I have been surprised at the lack nightly shows - production and headliners - in AC - there were plenty to choose from in Vegas.

We wil be driving in from the DC area and are thinking about taking 295 and 76to avoid a short stretch of the NJ turnpike or should we just take the Turnpike? I think I have the road names correct

TIA

Resorts: Wyndam Bonnet Creek (311,000pts) Wyndam Nashville (189,000pts) Sheraton Vistana (Fountains) Presidential Resort, VA
We go from your area pretty frequently. We like the shows at the Borgata Casino Hotel & Spa (http://www.theborgata.com they also have a lot of artist perform there) and you just need to go into this spectacular Casino, as its looks similar to the Atlantis casino. The also have some great restaurants there and the buffets pretty good. Check out the steel pier and the boardwalk. Believe it or not we don't actually go to just gamble. Also, you have got to get a sub from White House Sub Shop (2301 Arctic Ave, Atlantic City, NJ 08401-4001 Phone: (609) 345-1564), its a whole in the wall but the subs are awesome and reasonably priced. I go there everytime we visit Atlantic City.
