I just returned from the Westin Key West Resort and Marina I thought I'd share some pics .Forgive me I'm new to this picture stuff. The beach at the Sunset key resort is likely the best beach in Key West .Pricey $20 pp if your staying at the Weston $40 pp if your not.The resort only allows a small number of guests at a time on the beach as not to overcrowd the Sunset key guests.

I'm confused. Is the "Sunset Key Resort" different from the "Westin Sunset Key." And folks have to PAY to access a beach? That's horrible.

I'm amazed that Florida allows this. In South Carolina, at least, all the beaches are public; they cannot be privately owned. That doesn't mean that you can easily ACCESS it, but by law you can restrict people from walking along the beach in front of your home like celebrities in Malibu try to do.

Westin Resort and Marina and Sunset key are 2 different resorts the Sunset Key resort is on a private island 10 minutes off Key West. The Sunset Key resort Has cottages you can stay in like a hotel ($1000 plus a night!) and Westin Private residences. There are 2 boats that take you there one is a carpeted airconditioned launch with a nice interior for going out to eat there and for guests going back and forth. The other is a smaller open boat for beach trips. Once you arriive your greeted by a beach attendant who sets you up with a tiki umbrella or cabana, chairs ,towels and floats. The sand there is groomed daily. There is also food and drink beverage service from the beach. As a beach guest your restricted to the beach area and are not supposed to leave that area.Key West does not have any really nice beaches so this beach is paradise there.

Is this different than the Westin in the downtown area? We are staying there next February.

Ah, I see. Sounds awesome. Is the snorkeling good there? My husband loves to snorkel.

The snorkeling is great on the reef but not really from the beach. There are all kinds of boat trips to the reef. By the way I did get a SPG gold upgrade to a ocean veiw room.If your a plat and get an upgrade to a suite they are Huge .I was able to peek into one down the hall from mine. Right down the marina Next to the Westin is the Hyatt Sunset Harbor resort.

ahhh -- pretty:). Is one building better to be in than the other?
