Wyndham Kingsgate or Williamsburg plantation 2BR?

Hello everyone. We could use some help in deciding between a 2BR at Kingsgate or Williamsburg Plantation - both with full kitchen. Two families of three - We have a 6 year old boy and our friends have an 8 year old girl. The layout for Kingsgate shows only a tv in the master bedroom and it looks like the washer and dryer is in the master bedroom area (behind the door, so you have to go into the master area to do laundry?). Does anyone know if they have a tv in the 2nd bedroom now? Both husbands want a room with a tv as the kids will probably sleep in the LR and we'll have to keep everything quiet in the general areas after they go to sleep. I read on one review that Plantation has a tv in both bedrooms. Also, which one is better suited for children in this age range or are they both about equal? Is one divided better for couples than the other? I'm leaning towards Plantation because of the tv in the 2nd bedroom and it sounds like the bedrooms and bathrooms might be more suited for two couples since everything seems to be in the master at Kingsgate and the second bedroom/bathroom seems pretty bare. Thanks! - Janna

Wyndham Kingsgate

I just got back from Kingsgate this weekend. We planed on going to Busch Gardens while there, but my kids and their friends REFUSED to leave the resort they had so much fun. We were only there from Fri-Sun and they spend all of their time in the pool, arcade, playing putt putt, tennis, did I say in the arcade (which is "free play" but you pay a $5 a day activity fee when you check into the resort). The location is also pretty close to places to shop and eat. We had breakfast at the Golden Carral and lunch at Uno's right there near the resort, and we had hamburgers/hotdogs and fries at the resort restaurant onsite. The resort restaurant also had an all you can eat barbeque that we enjoyed also. While the kids were off playing we had drinks at the small bar in the restaurant onsite. *** All bedrooms had televisions...But we didn't watch them much, the kids we just set up our Playstation to it...

We haven't been to Plantation, but our 6 year old thought Kingsgate was great. The video game room was a big hit. I thought they did have a TV in the second bedroom but I am not certain about that. I would call the resort to check. What would make a difference for me is whether or not I would get into the newly renovated rooms. 2/3 should now be done with the final third done spring 2009. These rooms are very nice. The older rooms are sufficient but we found the beds somewhat uncomfortable. It probably depends when you go. If the resort is full, there are no guarantees on the room you get, but when it is less busy, I would assume most would get the new rooms. Overall, even with the older rooms, we had a wonderful time at Kingsgate (great pool area too! plus access to facilities at other two Wyndham resorts nearby.) Our kids also really enjoyed the activities they provided. Regarding the washer/dryer, it was in a short hallway and the location didn't bother us because of the doors that closed it out though it was in the master bedroom area.

Okay, we actually just returned from a trip to Plantation over the Easter break. We also stayed at Kingsgate twice already. I have to say......Kingsgate ALL THE WAY....for the kids! Our boys loved it at Kingsgate. As stated by other people, they have 2 arcade rooms that are free play ($5 per day fee), mini-golf, indoor-outdoor pool, activities for the children, restaurant/snack bar. Plantation was pretty nice too, indoor pool was pretty cold. My boys swim in anything & they didn't enjoy the indoor pool at all! Hot tub was okay! I def. would have to vote Kingsgate! Good Luck & have a great vacation!

OK, Kingsgate wins! We have some Wyndham points to use before they expire anyway so it ends up being the less expensive option. Appreciate the replies. Thanks - janna

Resorts: Way too many! Selling some, giving some away, keeping the best....
How are the units, now that the remodel is done? Wyndham charged a lot for the updates, then my understanding is they took out the king beds and put queens in the masters? Is that true? What a mistake that would be, if they reduced the bed size, when all other resorts are increasing bed size.

I was there and had a 3 bedroom (2bed with 1bed lockoff). There was 2 queens in the 2 bedroom. The 1bed had a kingsized bed. I was in building 44-202 which was awesome as we were able to walk to everything, and I could see the kids from the balcony at the tennis courts and playground.
