We leave Hilton Head tomorrow to head to Williamsburg. Spur of the moment decided to see a bit of the Outer Banks. I've looked at B&B's in Manteo.
Does anyone have suggestions for places to stay in Manteo or close by? Thank you, Suzzanne |

I cant help with a place to stay but can reccomend a great little place for breakfast. Be sure to order the apple ugly.
Orange Blossom Bakery NC Hwy. 12 Buxton, NC 27920 (252) 995-4109 The Orange Blossom is a Hatteras Island favorite for breakfast. Everyone loves the Apple Uglies, pastries, homemade biscuits, bagels, croissants and breakfast sandwiches. Breakfast is served from 7 until 11:30 a.m. Monday through Saturday, but the pastries can go fast so get there early. Orange Blossom also serves organic coffees and espresso. The little building that houses the bakery is more than 50 years old and was once the Orange Blossom Motel, named for orange trees that grew on the property.

Well Wanchese was interesting. . . Very off the beaten path. It was an industrial fishing harbor now turned boat building harbor. The reason we landed there was I didn't find vacancies at the internet B&B's in Manteo. Even the B&B we stayed at was a full house.
We looked around Manteo after most shops were closed and caught the local gardens before church this morning. Got over to Nags Head just before a storm rolled in and enjoyed lunch in Duck. Stopped in Norfolk at the Botanic Gardens. The rest of the drive was easy enough. Nice to find a new route and new experiences. Now in Williamsburg for Historic Garden Week in Virginia. |
