I own a few timeshare weeks. I am considering in the next year or so getting a travel trailer or a class C motorhome. I like the idea of a 2 or three week vacation that would include both a week RV'ing and a week in a nice timeshare. I am wondering where I would park my RV while staying at a timeshare. Does anyone know of timehshares that will allow you to park your RV on premises (not to sleep in, just to park) while you are staying there? Has anyone done this?

The Marriotts I own have put in their newsletter that you can contact them if arriving in an RV and they will give you information on storage in the area.
We found this to be about $40 a day in the Newport area!! I think you could do better finding something on your own online thru Camping World publications.

Big Rig.

The Chief Of Staff's sister has an AirStream 1500 Class B motorhome ("B-van") that's basically just a Ford E-350 maxi-van with an extended fiberglass top. Just about anywhere any other E-350 or equivalent can park (e.g., Dodge or Chevy or GMC 3500), the B-van can park.

So when The Chief Of Staff's sister & family visited us in their B-van at Wyndham Cypress Palms (Orlando / Kissimmee FL) & stayed over Saturday night with us upstairs in our timeshare condo, we got'm a regular parking permit & they parked down in the regular lot alongside all the Fords & Chevies & Toyotas & Hondas & Lincolns & Cadillacs & I don't know what-all. No problem.

Ditto a few occasions when they have visited us via B-van in Orlando when we were timesharing at Cypress Pointe Resort At Lake Buena Vista or Cypress Pointe Grande Villas.

Not only that, several times when we've been at The Grandevillas, I have noticed a humongous motor home the size of a Greyhound bus parked out of the way in a rear corner of the spacious parking lot -- different jynormous motorhomes different times when we've been there, I mean.

So either the timeshares I mentioned have no problem with Class B & larger motorhomes or they've made special accommodations on occasion.

BTW, the way-back part of the Cracker Barrel parking lot in front of Wyndham Cypress Palms had some oversize vehicles loitering there when we were staying at Cypress Palms in January 2008 -- an 18-wheeler & big bus-size motorhome & some box vans at different times during the week.

I don't know what brand Class C you're looking at, but my wife and I have an Itasca Navion (also sold as Winnebago View). It is a 24 footer built on a Dodge Sprinter 3500 chassis annd power by a Mercedes 5 cylinder diesel. It is high quality and very economical compared to most Class C's. We love it  and best of all...We've found we can park it almost anywhere.

It normally fits well within the standard parking spot width, so we try to pull into a spot where there are two open spots fore & aft so that we don't stick out.

Our second alternate is to back into a single space along the edge of a parking lot and let the rear extend out over the edge of the lot. We have, however, even parked it head in in some parking lots without unduly affecting the general traffic flow or blocking traffic.

As a comparison we previously owned a Ford F-350 4x4 Crew Cab Full Size (8' bed) pickup truck. It was only 2 feet shorter than our Navion. In many cases it was actually harder to park because it had a terrible turning radius.

Assuming it meets all your other your needs... you should find that a Navion or View will fit in most TS parking lots with ease.

Dodge Sprinter Is Outstanding.

Those Dodge & Mercedes & Freightliner Sprinters are nifty -- so much so that when they came out Dodge dropped its entire line of Ram vans. (Of course, that was when Mr. Mercedes owned Dodge. But now that Mr. Mercedes had 2nd thoughts & sold off Dodge, the Dodge maxi-vans are still Sprinters & the old Ram vans are still history. So it goes.)

Meanwhile, as I understand it, AirStream's current B-vans are no longer modified Ford E-350s. Now they're modified Mercedes Spinter 2500s.

That little dodge/mercedes does look cool, however with the 3 kids we are probably going to get something a little bigger, probably something just under 30 feet.

My parents brought their 33 ft Itasca class A to visit us for a few days at our home resort last month. They obtained a visitors parking pass and Dad just parked the motorhome in the back corner of the lot -no problem. The 3 (RCI) timeshares near me (Lodges at Horseshoe, Carriage Ridge & Carriage Hills) all have lots for oversize or extra vehicles and I've seen plenty of motorhomes and even a 5th wheel parked in them. Most of the resorts we've been to (all east of the Mississippi) have extra parking spaces. Resorts right in major cities may not have the space. I think once you decide on a destination, a call to the resort to confirm the availability of oversize vehicle parking would be a good idea before you book the unit.

The Navion (View) I'm talking about is a true Class C that comes with a slide out and is available in three different floorplans.

It is much bigger than the Class A shown by AwayWeGo. If your serious about a Class C its hard to beat the 15-18 mpg (15-16 @ 75mph 18 @60 mph). So IMHO it is at least worth a look.
