Tornadoes Batter Southeast Virginia

April 28, 2008 Rampage Injures 200,
Flips Cars and Demolishes Homes

Virginia officials today will be inspecting the damage from three tornadoes
that ripped across southeastern Virginia yesterday afternoon,
overturning autos, demolishing houses and injuring as many as 200 people.

Anyone read or heard anything about any damage to any of the
timeshares in the Virginia Beach (Williamsbrug) area of SE Virginia?

So many Tuggers and TimeshareForum members live in this area
Hopefully all are safe & did not have any timeshare/house damage.

Posting this in Mid Atlantic States Virginia
because of all the timeshares in that area
and would like feedback on the VA Resorts.

Resorts: Regattas at Abaco, 5 Marriott's, Wyndham Points, Shell Points, Embassy (Sunterra) Poipu, Polo Towers, Jockey Club, Carls
Currently staying at Wyndham Governor Green. News on TV last night and this morning indicate most damge in residential communities SW of Newport News/Hampton. The town most mentioned is Sufolk.

Strange thing is we drove through there on Sunday as we came to Williamsburg from New Bern NC

No mention of resort areas being damaged. All we got here was some rain and not that much.

all the damage I have heard about is Suffolk - I havent heard Virginia Beach or Williamsburg being anything more than heavy storm. I live about an hour north of Virginia Beach, and my "local" tv stations are over there - so we had a couple hours of nothing but storm news last night.

Well, the closest one was about 10 miles from me. The most important thing to me is that, although there were almost 200 injuries, there were no fatalities. There was lots of property damage, personal and commercial. They did not come close to any timeshares....

I'm sure Don Slater was having a field day. He goes absolutely crazy when a thunderstorm comes through the area, as if the world will come to an end unless he's on air telling everyone about it. I can only imagine how spastic he got when the tornadoes hit. I'm sure channel 10 was non-stop Slater all night.

A dear friend's daughter was working in Obici Hospital when the tornado tore up the strip mall across the street. Fortunately, the hospital had very little damage. Also, one of the most torn up areas, Kings Point is about 3 miles from their home.
