Smile RCI and II travel for airline tickets

Just booked 1 ticket on AA to St. Lucia for December using FF miles. Waiting another month for miles to post on my wife's account to hopefully get second ticket using miles but was told today that I got the last free seat (although the plane is only about 10%-20% sold so far on all segments). If I need to purchase second ticket price is $674 including all taxes with AA. So I called both II and RCI for their prices since I have saved money in the past using their travel department. RCI quoted me the exact same price of $674 plus they want $25 for ticketing fee. However II had a price of $593 including all taxes and no fee.

So if I can't get the free ticket I can use II and save $81 dollars.

I always check both II and RCI and have saved money many times from both so it always pays to check and let your membership fee save you some money.

I was just thinking about asking the question of whether RCI or II proved helpful in saving money when I saw your post. A few years back I got a couple deals on airfare, but the last couple times I called the fares were no different than I could find on my own. In one instance, the fares were considerably HIGHER than I had found on my own. So, I'd be interested in hearing other people's experiences using these travel service.
