Last September my DD applied for college at 8 different universities ranging from Alabama to Baylor to Texas Tech and everything in between. Her heart, however, has always been on only one school and that is Texas A&M University. She has talked about A&M since a young middle school student. She has attended soccer camps there, gone to concerts & fotball games, and has even done midnight yell practice - all in hopes of one day being an Aggie.

She got accepted to every school she applied to, months ago, except Texas A&M. Because of the goofy laws in Texas, A&M has to go through a process that drags on forever.

Cutting through the chase. At 11:15pm I logged into her A&M account to check one last time before going to bed. There it was!!
"A final decision has been made. Please click here to respond."

I quickly took my laptop up the stairs and woke everyone up. My poor DD, wearing her A&M sleep shorts, was almost afraid to click the mouse.
Drum Roll please .*.*.*.*.*.*.
"Congratualtions. You have been accepted into Texas A&M University!"

What a weight off the shoulders of the people in my family. Now, if I can manage to get me oldest DD out of school in the next year and a half, we will be even happier!

Congratulations! Most colleges let you know by April 1--having to wait till May 8 must have been horrible! Great that she was accepted to her first choice, though. Good luck!

Hook Em Horns!
;)

We have always been big sports fans of the various Texas state schools.

Late last night my DD ask me with a smile, "Does this mean I will have to hate the Longhorns?"

I replied, "No. You just have to hate Red Raiders." :hysterical:

Thanks. My daughter found out before Christmas from all the other schools.

Had to add this youtube video.

Poor TTech

I agree about the Raiders.

Texas and aTm have such a good rivalry.

And TTech thinks they fit into it some how...

Of course at Texas the only thing worse than aTm ;) is OU!

Gig em!

My DH and I are both Aggies (and both Polish - we have an excuse for everything!).

When I went to A&M in the mid-late 70s women were still a small minority on campus. Congrats to your daughter.

Gig em!

How wonderful for your daughter and your family!
Congrats to her and her parents for all the hard work.
Best of luck and prayers to her (and you guys when you drop her off!)

This is similar to the actual Gig 'em Aggies hand gesture!

Thanks. One of the saddest and proudest days of my life was when my DW and I dropped off my oldest DD at her new home away from home at TCU in Fort Worth. :bawl:

Imagine that, the Gig 'em Aggies tradition began in 1930 with a game between A&M and TCU. An Aggie alum, Pinky Downs, made the comment, "What are we going to do to those Horned Frogs. Gig 'em Aggies!" As he said this he made the hand gesture of gigging a TCU horned Frog. And so the tradition was born.

Now I have one of each. A Horned Frog and an Aggie. I sure hope they don't play each other in football. :D

Many years ago, when we took our first born daughter to KU for the start of her freshman year, she was being quite obnoxious. Her Dad called her on it and she said, "She (meaning me) was mothering me."

Funny how where the kids go can determine loyalties. Our extended family has always gone for the Longhorns, then two cousins, a brother and sister, went to Tech, now the clan watches them more closely than the others.

One of my best friends is a die-hard T-sip (graduate of University of Texas for you non-Texans). Now she is an officer in the Aggie Moms' Club with two sons going to A&M! Never say never. ;)
