Smugglers in August--Extra Weeks--Do they Open Up?
Does anyone know whether Smuggs will open up and advertise Extra Weeks for August 17, 2008, on RCI. I understand that an exchange is next to impossible, but we did go on an exchange last year. I have an opportunity to rent for $1,700, which is still a lot less than the resort cost, but, if someone has experience and knows that weeks open up for rent in June or July for August if the place isn't full, maybe we will play some roulette (although I doubt it).
Any ideas? Thanks. Bill |

I have seen them, however its hit or miss. I actually got a trade there for next year April (Spring Break week) and I went 4 years ago in December. Just keep checking, I would even do a search on it if I could, who knows you may get lucky.

August is prime summer for Smugglers and I really doubt you will see something on last call. After Labor Day, and into October/Nov. yes, and in April and May post snow season, sure.
If you really want to go in August I"d take the rental. |

$1700 per week sounds very cheap for an August rental. I assume its for a fairly small unit?
As Irene said, August is peak summer time at Smuggs. If it was me I'd take it, though if you are not dependent on airline bookings you may be ok to take a risk with waiting for something through RCI. |

I'm a Smuggs owner and have had an ongoing exchange request with RCI for the first week of August for AGES and nothing's come through yet. They BETTER NOT show up on Last Call or Extra Vacations

Rental
Redweek has a rental listed now (not mine, I don't own here) for the week of 8/9 - 8/16 for $1400 but it is a 2 bed/1 bath unit M03. You need to join to view it though. We were there about 4 weeks ago on a last call. Also, smuggs has the 1 in 4 rule for prime weeks, so if you have already traded in once, beware of that.
